have you notice how our child at a very young age, are well verse with the use of many technologies. As young as 5 years old can open the computer and turn it off the way it should be. And for a first grader ( usually 7 years old )to actually used the microsoft office and paint,as easy as if playing just playing with it. I have watch my son draw some pictures in paint and even design it and color it for just about 5 minutes because He already knows the use of all the command tools. And yes, even using Adobe Photoshop by a 7 year old. ( He can easily grasped the teachings of his father in using this software ). Not to mention that many children as young as 6 years old already has a celfone with them. I guess there will comes a time, that all our children regardless of their level in school ( elementary, highschool or college ) will just bring laptop instead of heavy troly bags and books and notebooks. With laptop becoming cheaper and cheaper. My only fear though is that, will they be able to write by hands if that time comes, since they can just click and link each site they want to learn and see, then click print if they want a hard copy. How time flies...

I definitely agree with you... my 5 year old niece can already surf the internet... and play games... she would just ask permission if she could use the computer... and when she gets it... she will open it by herself... and look for her favorite game site... she also knows how to use her mother's cellphone and can even operate the dvd at their home... My two year old is already showing signs of how knowledgeable she is becoming... she can turn of our digital electric fan... and already knows the function of the tv and cable remote control... i guess this is all because kids today are well exposed to technology... i think that is good... but they definitely need parental guidance in doing such activities...

My daughter had a computer in her room in Kindergarten, 4 years old. She is forever telling me how to use technology and I work at a major computer company!!!! LOL Like I don't know what I am doing!

The most important role in life is bringing up our children. As part of that we must prepare them for adult hood. Computers are now so much part of our everyday life that supermarkets sell them as commodity items. Virtually every area of society and evry profession uses them as a basic tool - as basic as a pencil. I therefore am delighted that my son aged 13 is totally at home with the computer. He does some of his homework on the computer and can print the results. I think this is wonderful. Writing is NOT essential, communication is what matters not the method of communication. If someone cannot read your writing they cannot understand what you are trying to say. This does nothappen using computerised communication. As long as spelling, grammar and punctuation are still taught, writing is the least important of these skills.
