He'll be speaking at the James Madison University convocation center this afternoon. I would love to go, but unfortunately I don't have a way to get there. I never thought any presidential candidate would have campaign this close to where I live. Have any of you have ever attended a political rally?

Send him an email - I'm sure his campaign would be more than happy to send a car over (as part of his share the wealth plan). LOL

I also entered a scenario of a married couple with three dependents and child care expenses making $50,000. Their tax savings under Obama's plan is $1000 (as it is with just about anything that you enter in the calculator) and their savings under McCain's plan is $967 - don't see all that much difference there for a family.

I've never been to one, although last year, Ted Kennedy came to an election event at the firehouse a half block from my apartment. I didn't get to get there because I was at work and couldn't leave. I wanted to, though. Not because I'm a fan of his so much as he's a part of this country's history and I would have liked to be part of it even for a short bit.
Barack Obama, John McCain and Sarah Palin have all been nearby several times this year, but I now can't leave my mother to do many things I'd like to do since I need to stay fairly close-in. They haven't been to NJ, that I know of, but have been in the Philly area and just south of Philly. I'm just across the river in NJ.
I've never been much of a "I've got to be a part of this" kind of person, a follower of the crowd or a groupie of any kind, so it isn't very often that I feel like I want to be part of something that big.
So, you live in the Blue Ridge Valley? That's such a beautiful drive going down Rt. 81. I've driven to Knoxville a couple times. And, now my cousin has his retirement home about 14 miles East of Lexington in the forest - I would LOVE being surrounded by trees!!

No, I never have. The closest I was to one was the DNC in Denver.
