The REAL tax issue no one is talking about

I hear both sides fight over who should get tax cuts. Well I say everyone should. What we should be doing is MAKING our elected officials be responsible for our money that they spend. No more pork barrel spending, no more earmarks. They spend billions of dollars on stuff that only really benefits special interest groups and lobbyist. It is our money. If we cut out all the waste then the government would actually be getting more money from us than they need. So therefore they could lower taxes on everyone. The money would be put to better use in our hands than the governments. Why fight over who should get a tax break when the real problem is how the money is spent? I think this is something that most americans can agree on no matter what party you vote for. SO why aren't we DEMANDING fiscal responsibility from ALL of our elected officials? What do you think?

It is easier to demand more spending than to demand responsibility. Once anyone has excepted a dime from government you will except more from government. I have an idea, but I must say it is somewhat radical, no taxes. Government runs the largest charity in the world and like all other charity the government uses other people money how they see fit. If government had to ask for funding, government would have to prove to the people that would donate. Imagine the government asking instead of taking. Imagine the fiscal responsibility that would create. Government officials would have to prove how every dollar was spent and why, so the donors would continue to give.

I really really like that idea. Now how we do sell it to washington?

We cannot unless we first sell it to the voter. Washington never gives up power only gains power. Taxation is a power government cannot afford to lose.

So what happens when we all just get so fed up and say enough. They going to throw us all in jail for not paying our taxes?

I so agree with you. The tax plan we have now is not so much the problem as the out of control spending. I do believe that some of the loop holes for big companies need to be fixed but as for the rest... I don't even pay taxes now like the other 40% of Americans. Question is who can we trust to watch more closely how our money is being spent? I only see one clear answer on that.

They should have to account for every penny and how it is spent before they spend it. We the america people would have to approve it. We are the boss after all. They work for us. We pay their salaries.
