Who says that bottled water is bad for you? I have heard, certainly, that if it is in plastic and kept for too long in sunlight, some of the constituents of the plastic may degrade and leach into the water. These chemicals may be carcinogenic. If bottled water is stored correctly and the shelf life observed, it is as good for you as any other water - though not as good for your pocket! It depends a great deal on where you live and what standards are enforced by the water suppliers as to what filter is best to get - if, indeed, any is necessary. In the UK, the quality of our tap water is generally very high (there are occasional mishaps when water may be temporarily below standard but warnings are usually issued when that happens). It also depends on what you want to use the water for. If it is for drinking, then hard water is better than soft. If it is for washing, then soft water saves on soap and detergent and is better for our skin and hair. Before buying a filter, it's worth asking if it is actually needed. The people who sell filters will, of course, claim that their product removes bacteria, microparticles and even, perhaps, some undesirable chemicals. If your water supply is already of good quality, a filter may be a completely unnecessary expense! It would probably be worth buying a jug filter first to see if it actually gives you a better quality water for drinking, tea-making and cooking. If you find a definite improvement, then research the kinds of permanent filter available to you. There are types that attach to the tap/faucet and can be switched in and out at will and there are types which can be installed in a separate cold feed supplying drinking water. It may be desirable (if your water supply is hard) to use a water softener on the feed to dishwasher or washing machine but then, of course, you are limited to heating the water you use in those appliances and can't use your normal hot water feed. Some advantages have been claimed for a magnetic device that clamps round the cold feed. This claims to reduce lime scale especially in the hot water and central heating systems (and the claims are convincing). It is not a filter or a softener but, in my experience, it certainly has an effect on lime scale build-up and some effect on the amount of detergent needed for a wash.

I have a Dr. Sukida water filter in my home. It is a healthy water filter because the filter provides minerals besides filtering the water from bacteria and chlorine. After I consume the filtered water for two months, I notice that my sinus infection had reduced dramatically. I no longer sneeze and have running nose in the morning. My nose is no longer itchy and my face is clearer than before. Before I consume Dr. Sukida filtered water my face area is very prone to allergic to facial wash and also to small pimples. I recommend this type of water filter to everyone. You are not just drinking filtered water, but you are actually drinking healthy water which has healing properties in it.
