As soon as you get rid of it, you need it. Ever had that happen?

It's a saying my Mother used to say all the time. I was just telling one of my Mylot friends that they ripped up the trolley car tracks the last time they redid our roads in our only city in this county. Now a trolley would be cool. Save on gas and help people get around. It's neat to look at the old pictures of when it had a trolley. Have you, your area, or anyone you know gotten rid of something and needed it right after it was gone? You could have something for a long time, never need or never think of a use and it's gone.

Oh yes, very often. For example, I had gotten a free museum pass for 4 to the Art Institute of Chicago here and though it hadn't expired, I threw it out because I thought I'd never need it. Then, around a month later, I had to visit for school. Sometimes its stuff like papers or clothes too. I hate to regret throwing things out and having to go buy a new one and such.

Yes, but sometimes we have limited room, so it happens. I have a safe now for papers that are really, really important and a filing cabinet for the "might be importants." Clothes, we have two clothets in our house. One on one floor and one on the next floor. When we get some real money someday, I hope that closets will be one of our first projects. My husband says one tiny room upstairs will be a walk-in closet. We'll see. Take care

We do have the Metrolink light rail system in our city. It runs from out in the county of St. Louis over to, how convenient, an Illinois casino. It runs through the downtown area which helps with traffic and parking during sporting events. This is a much used public transportation system that St. Louis really needed. Way back in the 1960's we had what were called street cars. The tracks were in the street itself. It was always so much fun to ride them since they swayed from side to side. The tracks were torn out years ago. We also have a bus system that runs all over but I don't ride them. Easier for me to drive the car everywhere. We certainly could use street cars again or actually anything that can relieve the traffic conditions in this big city. One of the major highways has been under construction for 7 months and won't be completed for several more months.

Metrolink is above ground and runs parallel with some of the highways. It's a great way to get to the downtown area without worrying about traffic and parking. The cost is very reasonable.

Sounds good, I went on some type of above ground rail in Canada one time when I was a kid. It was interesting so see all the sites high up, so I was just wondering what level it was. Thanks for the info and take care.

We have three routes North to South and all were under construction alternately, but the newspaper had them as all under construction all week so you never knew which one to take. This summer was a nightmare. If there is no money in NY State, how can three routes be under construction? Not working weekdays wasn't all bad. I didn't have to deal with construction except to go to the doctors and that was bad enough. Metrolink light rail, is that up in the air, underground? That sounds like an interesting system. Street cars sound interesting too. I like your description of what it was like to ride in them. Swaying from side to side sounds neat. Thanks and take care.

I agree with you. It doesnt help that most of the files are just a bunch of numbers so you don't really know what you're erasing anyway. Thanks and take care.

All the time! I go threw phases of cleaning out the house and my closet and just getting rid of things I have never used. Just last night it was so cold out and we were going to the lake for a Halloween Party. I searched for a red heavy sweater that I use to wear and then remembered that last year I gave it away because I hadn't worn it all winter! What was I thinking!! I still would rather be one that cleans out and throws or gives things away rather than a pack rat. I can't stand clutter and junk , so if I haven't used it in a year, it is out of here!

I guess it depends. If you only had one sweater, getting rid of it might not be good. If you had 10 already and were holding onto all 10, that wouldn't be good. Being a pack rat isn't good, but throwing stuff out when you need it isn't either. So somewhere in between throwing everything out and throwing nothing out is pretty normal. It's the extremes we have to worry about. Take care.

Los Angeles got rid of its trolley cars too. And then in the 1980's they spent a fortune to put in a transit system that doesn't nearly begin to serve the entire city. Dumb planning...

I don't know when Plattsburgh, NY had trolley cars. I've only seen them in black and white photos. So before color photos. Rip it out and then put in another system. People go to California partially to see the trolleys. San Francisco still has them right? I remember the commercial for some kind of rice that had trolley cars in it. Thanks and take care.

I guess it happens sometimes. It's too bad about the trolley car tracks, but people are enamored with "progress."

It just seems strange, that right about the time I figure out what they were, they're gone and then I think we could use them now. Yes, I know what you mean about progress. Thanks and take care.
