Is this offensive to you?

I was reading a news magazine today and ran across this article. ORANGE PARK, FL -- It was supposed to be a very special homecoming. After being in Iraq 15 months, SPC Lauren Boitet was going to see her family. The family was rolling out the red carpet, so to speak, but the homecoming was dampened by the homeowner association rules. The home owner's association collected all the signs before the soldier returned home siting that they were offensive and encouraged support for the war. You can read the rest of the story and see photos of the signs here... http://www.firstcoastnews.com/news/local/news-article.aspx?storyid=121886&catid=3 It makes me angry to think that people think a welcome home sign can be offensive. What is your opinion?

We are losing our freedoms one by one. Something is always going to be offensive to some one. I find some misic and movies to be ofensive but that doesant stop them from being made. Supporting a soldier coming home from Iraq is what we all need to do not find flags, signn and balloons cheering them offensive. These boys and girls are giving their all.

While I could understand the homeowners association having some rules regarding signs, enforcing it for this was not required. I'd like to have a talk with whomever found that offensive, and I'd like to have a stick in my hand while I talked to them. That is utterly ridiculous

I certainly wouldn't want to live where the homeowners association thought that a welcome home to a soldier is offensive. I would have been so angry! I don't think that is offensive at all. They should have had signs from the airport all the way to this home!

It is terrible that someone would say a welcome home sign is offensive and supporting the war. It is not supporting the war so to speak, but rather supporting the military. The men and women who put their lives at risk everyday to help keep us safe. That really gets on my nerves. I have a friend in Iraq right now and if someone took down my posters welcoming him home I would put them back up again.

I agree. It's no different than the "Happy birthday" signs that were said to be plastered all over the neighborhood. Those were never taken down.
