Do you need to change yourself?

I find that I am very easily moved by the Dr Phil show. You should see it sometime. I mean, I know a lot of people don't like him, but it's just that some shows are really amazing because of what you learn about the way he deals with people. You find a lot of patterns and what he is passionate about, and it makes you wonder what he would want you to change, and even more, what you need to change. I think that being 16, I feel like I don't know what to go for and what to want and what to believe. I feel as tough I might be kind of misguided, and that nobody is really giving me direction in my life. So Dr Phil helps with that a lot. I think it will get better as I grow up and realize what life really is all about, but right now I just don't get it.

I feel that I need to improve in some areas of my life, I also think that we all do, otherwise we do not learn anything, and learning something new is a good thing, we live in a world where new things happen, people invent things, create new forms of communication, etc, We need to grow both spiritually and education wise. I am ok with Dr Phil, there are things that I do not agree with him but overall I am ok.

Is there anything about yourself that you are really uncomfortable with or unhappy about? That's probably where to start if you want to do a self examination.

I've not heard of Dr Phil but I do like reading Steve Pavlina's blog. I think personal growth is important and he discusses things in such a wonderful way that it always inspires me to do better.

Dreaming of change means you have to face everything that has prevented that very change to happen. :)

Like Dr. Phil or not he does make some good points. I think that is the reason many people like him. They feel he is truthful and as they say, "The truth hurts sometimes." If you get angry about what he says perhaps it is because it has struck a nerve and you feel it relates to you. I have learned several things from the few episodes that I have been able to watch.

My 22 year old is a huge fan of Dr.Phil. I have only watched it a few times but he does seem to be pretty good. I think many young people feel as you do. I know I did. I kind of figured things out as I went and learned along the way. My parents did try to guide me and much of their phylosophy on life really sunk in as I experienced life itself. I just didn't want their guided tour. I am 52 now and still learning things all the time. You seem to have a lot of insight and I'm sure you'll do just fine.

I think Dr. Phil is very good. I even have one of his books. He encourages people to take stock of their life and do what they can to improve it now. Good Luck in your soul searching

I can not stand that guy....I can't stand Oprah either really and never could LOL....I will say though that finding out about yourself is a great thing to do..I did it (major soul searching) in my mid 20s and it was the best thing I could have done for myself..With you only being 16 I'm not so sure how much soul searching you could really do since you still have so much to learn and experience yet in life ya know..I would suggest to someone your age to just be yourself and not to let ppl sway you into thinking, feeling, believing etc a certain way...If someone suggests something to you or tries to convince you to believe something specific lets say, you'll KNOW in your gut and heart of hearts whether or not you agree..if you DO..ask yourself why, if you DON'T also ask yourself "why"..Self help books and talk shows like Dr.Phils can be of help too of course but the biggest key IMO is to be able to look at yourself WITHOUT rose coloured glasses....As for nobody givin you direction....well the only person who can really do that is you truth be told.. Just remember, you are still quite young and have so much to see, do, experience and learn in life..Dont rush into figuring out what you want or what you believe...you just dont have enough info yet ya know...

I think that we all need to change ourselves at one time or another. I am always looking for opportunities to change myself or to evaluate where I am and where I need to go to get where I want to be. One of the great things about life is that we can change.

I do enjoy Dr. Phil when he has family discussions that pertain to my family, although lately I've noticed many of his shows do not pertain to me, I began to give up on watching it. But I think you would enjoy his book "Self Matters" or look up his son's books by Jay McGraw, he wrote a few for teenagers. That might be inspirational to you.
