Political Sabotage

The last eighteen months have been incredible. At times the campaign was serene with little name calling and a lot of nothing when it came to the issues. No one knew where we were headed and who knows where we are headed now. Watching the news each and every day, we hear about how our economy is and who is going to fix it. We hear about the situation in the Middle East and who is going to make it better. We hear about education and how our children are going to fare in the present and the near future. We see companies which have been household names for decades beginning to collapse and disappear off the face of the earth. We hear about the CEOs of these companies gaining financially as they are released from their plush jobs. We see an unknown man, Joe the Plumber, become a household name and a hero. We then begin to hear the name calling. We then begin to hear that racism is flourishing because of the historic election that we have entered into. We have heard about the voter fraud which is running rampant in all of the "battleground" states. Folks, enough is enough. It is time to do something about. Oops. Wait. We are. We are stealing signs from each other's front yard. We are spray painting slurs on candidate's signs. We are sleeping with the enemy. What has happened to America? Let's discuss what is happening in your neighborhood. Are you safe? Do you feel safe? Are your signs disappearing? Is your husband, boyfriend, wife, etc., etc., standing guard over their signs with shotguns, bb guns or bazookas? LOL. Have you electrified your front yards? Are the dogs confused? Who let them out anyway! Good luck and may the best man (McCain) win. Happy Mylotting.

Yes, despite all the sound and fury of the politicians and the predictions of armageddon should the opposing side win, truth is that the people are reasonably calm about all of this. I think what is worrying people far more is not the sound and fury of the election but the hope that a new president will get us out of the economic mess we are now in. I notice that Obama is now lowering expectations and will be doing this with a vengeance should he win: he knows, as McCain also surely knows, that whoever wins is going to have a pile of mess to deal with and it ain't going to be pretty I can tell you.

I'm sure there will be horror stories but in my little piece of Florida, everything is calm and has been calm. We have an Obama sign in our front yard and no one has touched it. My husband's brother has a McCain sign in his front yard and his has been just as untouched. We have friends and relatives who support Obama and others who support McCain and there has not been one incident of ugliness in my town. Of course, it's a small town where everyone knows and respects each other...maybe that's the difference.
