INGREDIENT: 2 lbs of potatoes (yukon gold potatoes, russet potatoes etc.) 1 teaspoon salt 1 cup of half and half 6 tablespoon of butter salt and pepper to taste 1. add the potatoes to a large pot with enough cold water to cover by an inch or so. Add salt and bring the water to boil. Cook until the potatoes are tender. (about 15 mins) 2. drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Heat them with low heat to evaporate the water left on the potatoes. 3. mash the potatoes by your method of choice. (I use a BIG spoon) 4. blend in butter, half and half and any ingredient you prefer. 5. season with salt and pepper. That's it~ ENJOY!

Wow, very detailed recipe. Is this safe for babies? I tried making a very simple mashed potato, but she didn't like it. How can I make it more fluffy for her, so she won't choke or won't stick to her inner mouth.

Mashed potatoes is real easy to make and you can adapt them to anything you like in your. I sometimes use mayo if I am out of milk, it is the same as using milk and they will never know it. I boil my potatos in chicken broth instead of water, boil the potatos which you have peeled, in enough water to cover, drain, add, butter, milk ( enough milk to get the desired texture. Not too runny) you can add sour cream, cheese, or chives, or anything that you like. I even seen a show where they didn't peel the potatos first, just mashed them with the skins on, the skins hold all the vitimans in their peelings, it looked funny but she said it gives color and flavor to the mashed potatoes. Dont' know if I would like pieces of potato peelings sticking up out of my mashed potatoes. They are easy hon, and just remember to not add to much liquid (milk) to make them too runny, try a little at a time till you get them the way you want them.

Wash potatoes, peal potatoes, boil potatoes till tender, mash potatoes and add butter, or even a little bit of cheese if you want, a little bit of salt and you have mashed potatoes.

Boil potatoes, peel them and mash them with a wooden spatula or so. Add a dash of salt to taste. If you like butter, add a few tbs of butter, it will give the final product a fine texture and adds on to the taste too. Also, you can even flavor it with garlic, onion and green chilies!
