Saturday morning I will be out buying some of the Halloween candy that stores mark way down to get rid of to make room for Christmas candy. It's usually gets marked down to half price, and I stock up on M&M's and milk chocolate that I will use when I make Christmas desserts (if there's any left by then). For the holidays, I make a peanut butter Christmas cookie that I dip in melted milk chocolate and add mini M7M's for decoration. Does anyone else run out to take advantage of these sales?

I'm on top of those discounted candies like theres no tomorrow! Every year I hit up the stores, I love candy and if I can get it 50% off or more I'm there. Like you I also stock up on Halloween candy that they wanna get rid of, they last a long time and it will get eaten at home anyways

I think if we lived closer, we'd be knocking elbows in the race for the 'best of the rest'...lol. Good luck on the hunt tomorrow!

So far, I've gotten several bags of M&M's, Hershey's Kisses and Dove Nuggets. The closest grocery store will be marking theirs down tomorrow morning...guess where I'll be? How are you doing?

I love your idea that purchasing reduced candy after Halloween is actually a service to stores. It justifies my own post-holiday spending spree! As a confirmed chocoholic I believe that it is ideal any time of year. And chocolate at a reduced price...what could be better? I always stock post Halloween, post Valentines, post Christmas and post Easter. And I love the idea of using the Halloween chocolate for Christmas baking. Cookies with the little M & Ms are the best!

Your comment reminded me of the episode of The Simpsons where Costingtons department store created "Love Day" just to boost sales. Actually, that could work...it could happen sometime in June since there are so many weddings in June. And, of course, chocolate is an aphrodisiac so of course Love Day would be a major chocolate fest. I think I like this idea... If Love Day sounds too corny, we could also change it to Friendship Day or Be Kind To Small Animals Day. As long as chocolate is involved somehow. The we could promote it right here on MyLot. Once we start spreading the word, there's no telling how quickly this could catch on.

How about M&M cookies that are half-dipped in milk chocolate? It's always seemed lacking that there isn't a chocolate holiday between Valentines and Halloween. Seems like they could have invented one by now. Course, with the heat of summer, we'd have to eat it very fast before it melts!

Think of the service we're performing for these stores. Because of us, they can put out more Christmas candy sooner! They should pay US to take all those chocolates and decorations off their hands...lol

hahaha. good question :D hmmm. yummy i am craving for m&ms right now. i guess using them as decoration will lead one into scarcity not unless you purchase a truckload of sweets

The trick is to buy them up with the excuse that you're getting them for cooking and decorating...and having a good excuse why they're long gone before you actually do any baking...lol.

I always figured that if it's half price, it's also half calorie....and you can then eat twice as much. Sounds logical to me...lmao

I sure did! I stocked up on all the discounted halloween candy. I also got discounted cake mix due to it having halloween sprinkles with it and I got some vanilla pudding that came with orange food dye. I go candy shopping after christmas and easter as well.

I am planning on going to Walmart early saturday morning to get marked down candy. I just get a bag or two of varieties I like. I don't stock up for any specific purpose.

I do a lot of baking for school events and other parties. The sales on chocolate helps me a lot...if I can keep it hidden from the nibbling family. A friend hid some for me at her house...not realizing that her kids had found it...lol
