My favorite way to travel is by train however I had the most terrible journey yesterday. I got to my local station and saw the ticket machine had been vandalized. I had to wait ages for my train and there was no information when the train would arrive. It was running late and was busy with standing room only.
My return journey was even worse. I got on a very busy train and got jammed in with my son's pushchair and suit cases all around. There wasn't a driver and so me and all the other passengers had to wait more than half an hour for a train driver. Then the train got to Weston super Mare station. They announced that the train would be fast to Bristol because it was running so late and would no longer call at my local station. I was just about to get off but a wheelchair came on board. The doors closed and off it went to Bristol. I saw my mum's car waiting for me and the train didn't stop. I had no way of contacting her so I had to phone my brother in law and ask him to go to train station to say sorry but I wouldn't arriving there.
I arrived at Bristol at rush hour and it was really busy. I got on the train and my son's pushchair was moved far away from me and I was stuck and had to sit on shelf for luggage. People were standing all around and the pushchair caused so much bother. I arrived at my local station after dark and the weather was really cold. I am going to complain about this awful train ride.
Have you had bad times traveling by train?
Do you have a happier memory of traveling by train?

U know, the population of China is pretty large. Thus, I almost wound up by the train. Well, then, for one thing, it is hard to get the ticket on holidays. Also, it is really crowed in a train lots of time. Next time, when I go home to see my parents, I guess I will travel by plane. By the way, I am kind of a acrophobia. So, I may change my mind

One day I would love to travel from London to Beijing by train via Moscow. It would take weeks and I would see some lovely scenery. It is a shame when trains are really crowed in China. I travel by plane sometimes but find the seats uncomfortable and have little leg room. I hope that you have a very enjoyable trip to see your parents.

Gosh, poor you! You would have felt terrible yesterday. But anyway, you arrived at your final destination safetly in the end, so thats agood.
I haven't had such an incident so far. The closest I had come is when I along with my husband and 2 of our friends decided to go for dinner one night and we went to get the MRT. Once the train came, I quickly got in, but before the other 3 could get in, the doors closed and the train pulled off. Thinking that the others will come to the final destination, I happily went and got down at that place. But the others never came on the next or the next train. And when I phoned my husband, I found out that they had waited for me to come back on the next train and when I had not come, they had gone home to see if I had actually got down at that station and gone home to wait for them1 Utter confusion1 Finally they arrived and we managed to go along for dinner!
My happiest memory of a train ride is when I went on a trip with my parents when I was small. I can remember going through tunnels and my father yelling to shout at the darkness to hear the echo.

Thanks for your excellent response. I guess that the MRT doors close quickly and that there isn't much time spent at the station. You got on but the rest of your group didn't. That must have been awful for you traveling alone and they waited. You were not able to communicate but luckily you met up again later.
Your train trip when you were a child was delightful fun. Yes, children hear things said in a tunnel and enjoy hearing the echo. I had a scenic journey in New Zealand when I saw coastline and mountains.
