Everyone is different. Opposites attract. But at times, you two have to merge at some point and work together, lets say doing something the way you like. How do you get your spouse to work your way (at least in some areas) without making him/her feel compromised?

Opposites may attract, but for long lasting relationships you have a better chance the more similar your backgrounds are.
Whilst my track record is poor, I believe that it is better if you compromise. In some areas one partner will have knowledge or the issue will be important to them and you should let them win. In other areas you will feel strongly and you should win. Other issues you should discuss and see if it matters. If not then the person who thought of it can decide. Life is better without fights! Best of luck.
