They already have too much candy!

The kids had Halloween parties in school today. They got so much candy from the party, I wonder if they really need to go out tonight. I swear they have enough candy right now to last them months! And I don't let them eat a whole lot of candy, so this will last a good long time. They asked to bring in treats for the Halloween party, I brought donuts for the kid's classes. Do your kids have Halloween parties in school? What kind of treats do you send in with them? Do they bring home a ton of candy from their school parties?

My daughter is in 3rd grade and the teacher sent nothing home about sending treats in. I went to Burger King and bought some of the coupon books with the free fries for my daughter to give out to her classmates. She said that only 3 people brought stuff in and she ate all 3 pieces of candy in school. I was surprised. Usually she comes home with a load of stuff! I guess now that she is older, they don't have the parties like before.

My oldest is in 6th grade now and they've completely stopped doing the Halloween parties. That's good for me though.. I can't afford to keep sending in that many treats with 3 kids in school, lol.

My son brought home an plastic bag that had pumpkins on it. He had about 20 pieces of candy in it.. Which was okay.. Because I really don't like him eating too much candy anyway. I brought a medium sized bag of Skittles to his teacher on Thursday.. That is all. I don't believe in sending in so many sweets like that. He is not even going trick or treating.. That is too much candy for my kids to be eating.. I want them to keep their teeth, not lose it..

I let my kids get as much candy as they can, but I ration how much they can eat. Usually after they get candy they can have 1 or 2 pieces a day, that's it. I keep the candy up out of reach so they can't get to it. I also help them eat it, lol.

My daughter didn't bring as much as I thought she would this year. They only had a half day of school so they got cheated out of having a real party. I think they basically just came in from recess and passed out their treats and then it was time to go. They didn't have snacks or drinks, they just passed out the take home treats the kids brought in. I don't think a lot of the parents sent stuff in. They'll get a pretty good haul tomorrow night when we go out. The chocolate candy doesn't last long around here lol. I use the huge bucket of parade candy we collect over the summer to give out at halloween lol. I know I know I cheat, but we can't afford to buy candy for tons of kids.

I bought a small bag of milky way (my favorite) but didn't actually pass any out because we were all trick or treating all night. So I have that unopened bag to munch on as well as all the candy the kids got! We're a bit overloaded, lol.

My son's class had a party yesterday, but he did not get a whole lot of candy. The kids only went to about 20 houses last night and between the 2 of them they got over 100 pieces of candy. Most of it was chocolate. They will have candy for a long time too.

In my sons school it all depends on the teacher. His teacher this year doesn't like sweets so they are not having a party...but all the other 3rd grade classes are. I find this to be unfair to his class, but I have bigger things to worry about! As for trick-or-treating candy, they get to have maybe 1 piece a day for a while - but mostly I eat it! I think it's the fun of dressing up and going around the neighborhood that is most important to them. (For me, I could skip the trick-or-treating and just eat the candy!)

That is rather unfair of your son's teacher. I also give my kids 1 piece of candy a day for awhile, and eat most of it myself. But I enjoy the trick or treating with them. I get so excited when picking out their costumes. I think the whole holiday is great!

We had Fall Party (I call it such instead of halloween party) at school yesterday. Kids were over active. I had difficulty controlling them (I am the teacher that's why.) The party and trick or treating had not begun yet but OMG ! they already had enough sugar. I wonder what is going to happen on smonday when they get back to school after eating sweets the whole weekend. If i am a parent, i will send halloween themed pencils, erasers, notebooks etc instead of candies. a lot of those can be bought from dollar stores or online like oreintaltrading. i hope parents thought about this when they send treats.

Yeah it's a lot of candy but they are only kids once and trick or treating is so much fun. My children are older now, but when they were younger I allowed them two pieces on halloween night and we put the remaining in a big bowl for visitors and when they were good were allowed a few pieces. They were more excited to share their treats and were proud to tell about their night when they offer our guest their treats. I decorate cakes and froze the chocolate candies to melt later for icing. Have a safe halloween and hope your children have fun.
