Cooking suggesstions for an Indian in USA

hi, I came to USA to persue my Master's in CS. I am living off-campus, since the on-campus fee was too high for me. I am sharing an aapartment 2 other Indians. I have never cooked in my life & i am not getting adjusted to US food style. I was wondering if any of u can help me in finding few simple & fast recipes to cook. I would be happy if most of them r vegeterian dishes. i did look in youtube & other websites. but not of much help....

Oatmeal spagetti depending on where barbq...tacos are always good. Depending on how hat you have grilled cheese sandwhichs chilli just to name a few cook how you cooked in india to some degree. :)
