Hey, I mostly have been posting in this interest, so I know this is off topic, but all of us in this interest, from both sides of the table need a light break. And I've been telling y'all about my daughter (her biracial heritage, like Obama's). So I thought I'd put up a pic of her dressed for Halloween tonight. She is a 50's sock hop girl. It's a wig on her head -- she loves to wear play hair. She is 9 years old.

She's Beautiful! I don't think it's all that far off topic. The topic you present is the stress of this election period, and your kind heart to make an effort in this stressful time to lift our spirits and bring us back together as fellow American's. God Bless you for that and that beautiful warm smile your child shares with us that brought my spirits up.

And she is beautiful! We have biracial children in our family, too. My husband is African and I am American. We do not have children, but if we did, we would be proud. Stand proud!

A very good picture of a very lovely little girl.We have somethings in common.I am also of mixed race and my real name is Francis,(same name, slightly different spelling) and I love the idea of the 50's sock hop girl simply because I was a child of that decade.

Thanks for your lovely comment.Yes the spellings for girls and boys named Frances,Francis are the same in South Africa as in the U.S.A.

Thank you Jungle. You were a biracial child growing up at a time which was exceptionally difficult in our country time for racial tensions -- and and I imagine it was in South Africa, too. Here in the US, your spelling of Francis is for boys, and my daughter's spelling of Frances is for girls -- is that the way in your country?

She is a very pretty young lady who I am sure will go far in life. I am sure that she is proud of who she is and I say that as long as she knows the biracial heritage and doesn't mind then why should anyone else have a problem with it. Freedom is what the USA is built upon.

Isn't she wonderful! I had just posted something about my autistic daughter and how wonderful I think she is. Leah's too old to trick or treat, but I have those pictures to remember! She went as a gypsy one year and piled on scarves, shawls and jewelry. It was great.

She'll be 21 in December. There are so many and you hear of so many more being diagnosed every day.

Girlfriend's lookin good, thedoshrink! I disagree with the naysayers who say this doesn't belong on this board. We all do need to lighten up for a bit and this post makes you seem so human. I missed my youngest granddaughter's first Halloween since I'm stuck in Miami so kids and trick or treating have been on my mind all day. Thanks for cheering me up.

Did she have a great time last night? Yeah we all have to take some time away from politics. Only someone with no life write about politics all day ever day. Just like an investment you must diversify your interest.

Oh my God. She is so cute. I wish that I could take a break from politics and have trick or treaters come to my house but my landlord doesn't allow them. It was nice to see her and realize that this election isn't the end of the world - whoever wins. Although, at times we're trained to feel like that. Please note, I'm not saying don't vote. I'm just saying most people will wake up on November 5th and what matters most will still matter and not be the election. Although, if McCain gets elected I'm going to be very sad.

Your landlord doesn't allow trick or treaters??? I never heard of such a thing! That's sad! It's so fun to see the children all dressed up and some of the adults being silly!

Uh...you know it's off topic, but you post it anyway? This should go in a mylot blog or a halloween area, or even something as generic as this: http://www.mylot.com/w/lists/13_34856/default.aspx

Eh, let it go. It's Halloween, and it's nice to take a short break from slamming each other and share some family time. She's a doll, thedogshrink. Here's looking forward to a bright future for her in a world that doesn't even consider to ask if she's biracial because, you know, it doesn't matter at all. Hope she has a blast!

Thanks, Chameleon. Yes, it doesn't make a difference or shouldn't! With my daughter being autistic, she is so refreshingly unaware of race!! She seemed to not notice at all til the last couple of years when she learned her colors. Then she started pointing out brown people and white people, and different hair colors. But to her, it is clearly just another amazing part of the colorful world we live in -- nothing more. I actually intended to post the face/wig, and one that showed her swingy polka dot 50's skirt, but too late I found out I could only put one -- can't wait til I reach 500 posts!!! Clarus, yes, I posted it anyway and I explained WHY -- because even tho it is not politics, the people I wanted to show the pic too are in POLITICS interest. In all this time, I have disagreed with you, but I have never told you the truth, but now I will! You, Clarus, are a TWIRP!!! NOT every liberal is, but YOU ARE

I have a son with Aspergers myself. He's part of the reason that I'm as much an activist as I am, and he's one of the true treasures of this world. He has a unique perspective on the world that cuts through all the bulloney. All of my kids grew up in a very diverse city and neighborhood and they have friends of all races. It matters so little that half the time, I have no idea that one of their friends is biracial until I meet both of their parents. Even better - my middle daughter's friends are often surprised when they meet her father and me to find that we're both white - half of them assume that she's Latina, even though she's blond. My oldest daughter is about to marry a very fine young man who is biracial and Jewish (she was raised Catholic by her father) and they explained to me that their biggest issue is that they'll be raising mixed children - but they've decided that they'll let them decide between the Red Sox and the Phillies when they're old enough to make that decision for themselves.
