As we all of us Filipinos know Nov. is the time for us to remember our loved ones who passed away while all the other people in the world celebrate Halloween.
So do you have any loved ones who passed away you need to visit? Later after work I will be visiting my brother's grave. I will be buying flowers and candles for him as well. I hope that everybody won't stop remember their loved ones even though their gone. Just to quote a line from the movie phenomenon,
"Will you love me till the rest of my life?"
"No I will love you till the rest of mine"

We do that all the time too but I'm just saying that it's a tradition for all Filipinos to celebrate it SIMULTANEOUSLY. We may celebrate it anytime but Nov. 1 is the time for us celebrate it AT THE SAME TIME. I didn't mean to sound like I'm comparing it to Halloween celebration.

I have the movie Phenomenon it is a good movie and I am sorry to say that I didn't visit any of the ones who passed away on Halloween. I feel kinda guilty now. We do visit them occasionally but never on Halloween.

It would be hard to forget since we have pictures of them still up and talk about them always and miss them when something like good/bad happens because we used to share in the triumphs and errors.

November 1 is actually a regular holiday for us. So most of us don't have work during this day except for me since my job is technical support.
. But luckily I'm in the morning shift so I have time to visit my brother's grave. Thanks for the response!

Aaw, that quote was touching. My lolo and aunt passed away but it was a sad thing that I wasn't able to go to the cemetery personally. But they will always be included in my prayers.:)

Hi yuna15,
Yes we are all enjoying this great feastival of Halloween, its a Witches Sabbath and everyone joins in the fun, we clebrating the changes of the season too and also we do remember our loved ones that had passed and in this time the veil between their world and ours are very thin so they can come to visit us and all are welcome, that is why we put pumpkins lanterns out so they can see their way to us and on the 1st November is the time to remember and honour them. Well will never forget and also they are always with us.

hi yuna,, actually ive already bought candles for my daughter last thursday, since it its for her i made sure it's special so i chose the scented ones. for my father inlaw and some of husband's relatives are just ordinary candles. well, you got a point that we Filipinos have this tradition that every November 1 we will visit our loved ones in their grave. yes we also observe that, the only difference is that we won't go to the cemetery. we just have to light the candles here at home since my daughter was cremated and her urn is here in our house. it even pains more for me now than the previous months. despite of the fact the her one year is almost here. i know she's an angel now, and i don't want her to worry about me being sad.

I don't stop remembering my lost loved ones, i pray for them and sometimes, when i'm in deep trouble, i talked in mind to my grandfather who passed away asking him for help. But this last All Soul's Day, i wasn't able to go to the cemetery because i was invited by my bf's family to come to them in Baguio for a mini vacation. I just texted my mom asking her if they already visit my grandfather's tomb. She said yes, we are here already as well as your titas. I txted her back, i said "Please say hello to lolo for me" hehe. Then she replied...LOL!

Our loved ones who passed away must be remembered even once in a while. They are a part of lives in one way or another. Visiting them during November first is a way of remembering and paying them respect, that even they are already gone and left us, we still remember and pray for them. I was not able to visit my grandparents in the cemetery today because it rained so hard. I will do so tomorrow, though. I won't pass November 2nd without visiting them.
