Christmas eve we always have spighetti sauce with meatballs, sausage and hard boiled eggs in it. Then everyone brings appetizers to go along with it. We alway have sausage bread too. Then on Christmas Day we have the ham, mashed potatoes, corn and all the fixins.

I agree on the eggs. My sister and nephews love them that way. Hard boiled and in sauce. I go for the meatballs and sausage.

Mac and cheese? For christmas? What? O_o well, I'll tell you what my strange country-folk family tends to have for christmas. My grandmother usually makes slaw. Heavily with marshmellows and pineapple. And iced cookies. I've tried to make both, and can only manage a mere shadow of what she and my Aunt can make...but ah well. There you go, lol.

I make an entire Christmas Eve feast for my family and friends. I is a tradition that has been handed down in my family for many generations. It consists of seven sea foods, each prepared differently. Some people say it represents The Seven Sacraments. Other Italian families make 12 dishes, and say likewise only with twelve. I prepare, Baccala Salad(dried cod with vegetable), Shrimp Fettuccine Alfredo style, Calamari Marinara and fried calamari, Baked Whiting or Cod with lemon and capers, Macaroni with scallops and shrimp, Scungilli(conch) salad or marinara depending on my mood, Spaghetti with white clam sauce. My mother taught me how to make this. When she passed away I continued the tradition. I have added my own recipes and try something new every year. On Christmas Eve I usually have around thirty people at my house. I love to do this, it it my gift to my family!

I don't know if it is traditional to have fish for Christmas meal, but I remember a plate or two of grilled fish on my table for every Christmas. One reason can be that my family is so fond of seafoods! Grilled fish recipes will be something you would want to try. It's quite easy and quick with delicious flavors of herbs - a lot altered according to one's own palate I must say. http://www.ifood.tv/network/grilling_fish/recipes Get some awesome grilled fish recipes here to pep up your X'mas meal!
