I would lke to hear from people that hunt deer. I want to know if you hang your deer from the back legs or the head while you skin the deer. I personally hang mine from the head. Mainly because it makes it easier to skin the deer, but also because it allows the deer's blood to drian out of the body better. This leads to better tasting meat.
I look forward to hearing how you hang you deers and please also expain why you hang them the way that you do.

The part that I do not understand about hanging them from the back legs is where does all the blood "also adrinaline" go. There is no opening for anything to drain from. Sure some will come out of the mouth but what about all the stuff that is just sitting in the veins. I have had plenty of deer meat...heck I basically grew up on it and the meat from deer that were hung from there head and properly drained just seemed like it tasted better. I know this is just a opinion. I also guess that hanging the deer from the back legs could work if you cut the neck "like a pig". Because this would allow it to drain a bit.
Thanks for the reply, I was starting to think I was the only hunter on this site :)

I've seen a lot of people hang deers from the back legs...I mean they make devices designed to assist in this process. I am just sujesting that if you hang a deer by the head that it is easier to skin and quarter up. But I can still see the that most people do it with the back legs hanging up.
Thanks for your coment thou. I was starting to think that there were no hunters on mylot :)

Personly i have always hung them from the back legs. It alway seems to be easier to get a good mounting cape that way.
