My house is now showing its age.

I bought my house new 15 years ago. It is now starting to show its age. Earlier this year we had to replace the hot water heater. As I write this, there is a guy on top of my house putting on a new roof. Once the roof is done, we will have to re-do the ceiling in one of our rooms as the roof leaked through and there is a nice big bad spot, including a nice crack that leaks whenever it rains. The roof guy said, though that once the new roof is on, we could actually wait untill spring to do the ceiling. So unless it totally collapses, that is what we will do. Next big project will be the kitchen. We want to install new countertops and a new floor. We were thinking bamboo for the floor. Not sure yet about the counters. What fun.

That happens. This year we have had the roof replaced, and had siding put on. Our air conditioner is 4 years old. We have a couple of spots on the ceiling that have been patched. Home ownership is not BORING!

You are right about it not being boring. We are also thinking of replacing the furnace as well. We figure to do it before we have to do it. Anything we get now would be much more energy efficent. I was thinking of central air, also. Not sure yet. The guy doing the roof is in process of finishing up for the day. I just talked with him, and he said he is going to bring some more of the materials up before he leaves today, so he can get right started when he gets here tomorrow. He had them deliver the materials (shingles and stuf) and leave them on the ground, instead of putting them all up on the roof. It would have cost us an extra $200 if he had the supplier put everything up for us.

Our new roof is almost complete now. He should be finished today. Hope so.

Yes, it is getting the age on it that things must be done to get it back up to par- same here, BUT just think you are 15 yrs closer to the morgage being paid off, and you cant replace the size house you got back then nowdays!!
