You Told Me You Would But Did You Really?

Here, in myLot, we find ourselves sharing links to websites or videos with each other. Sometimes, we say that we will check out the links or do some research about what the other myLotter talked about. So DID YOU? Did you follow through even if that myLotter isn't there to see or know that you actually DID NOT? I find myself clicking on these links and looking up more information on topics I said I would. But there are times that I just skip through some of them and don't even feel bad.

Hi anne, To be honest and I usually am I do not always follow the links. Sometimes if the topic really does interest me I will check it out to see what added information I can find out. But, there are times that I am not that interested or I just don't have the time to bother so I don't check it out. It really has more to do with the subject matter and how interested I am.

I am this way too, Opal. See, I've already lost count of how many things we have in common.

Hi SaintAnne! I normally check the link in the discussion but there are times that I skip. I will be honest with you, the link that you gave me about Egyptian cuisine or foods, I haven't open it yet (sorry) and I will open it tomorrow and this is promise. Thanks!

NO! CJay!!! You mean you didn't open that link? My feelings are so so so hurt. Don't worry... be It was just something I thought you might be interested in. You don't have to check it out until you're ready. That is what I do. With the food sites I've gotten so far, I've bookmarked those that I don't have so far. I've checked every single one when I came across the links but I know I will definitely check more of these sites once I get down and dirty in the kitchen because I will definitely be looking them up for ideas. Take care!

I always check out the links. I know there are others who do not, and I can tell because they only check out links if they agree with their point of view. I do not care what their point of view. I am a Christian and I will even check out a link if the poster says she believes in the Toothfairy and worships tree slugs.

I also check out sites that I disagree with but not all of them especially those that I already know are hooey since of course, I don't think it's worth my time for some of them. I'm glad you're one of those who are able to read both sides, no matter what your beliefs are. Thanks for sharing, suspenseful.

Just as in real life, here we are allowed to change our minds. If I tell someone I will check a link I usually do, but sometimes life gets in the way, and my real responsibilities have to come before the ones here in cyberspace.

Very good point, drannhh. I'd like to say that this is one of the reasons why I miss reading some of the links I said I would check out. I just don't have time to check it out that moment and then a few days passed and I've forgotten about it or just don't have the time to look for it anymore. But when I bookmarked something, I check it every now and then. Thank you!

I try not to say that I will check out things. That goes for not only myLot, but also another site that I'm on. Then, I may or may not go take a look at whatever the person is talking about (or, at least, Googling it to see if it is worthwhile-- not to mention legitimate).

I don't think I would tell someone that I was going to check something out unless I was going to. If I wasn't interested or didn't have time, I just wouldn't respond.

There are other myLotters who say they will check this or that out... myself included. That's why I was wondering if everyone who said it did really. But maybe I should start not mentioning that I will if I think I won't get to. Thanks, glords.

I have checked it out most of the time and will continue to do so. The reason being that if i have mentioned that i would check out or follow up it is because of an interest, and those i normally do follow up on . For example You recommened a couple of books to me in a response to my discussion and i commented saying that i would check them out. I intend doing that.

I'm happy to hear that, alokn. That discussion brought out the sociologist in me. I must admit that sometimes I say I will check it out later, I do mean it but then time goes by without me doing anything about it. That's why I came up with this discussion. Thanks!

I do chech out links if I respond to the discussion. It has bee my experience of learning new inputs from these links. But if I'm not interested in the topic posted, I just let it pass.

It's good that you try, red_a. I think we can never ever learn everything in the world that we need to know. Thanks!

I do always check something out when I tell someone that I will. Mostly because if I say I will do it, it's probably something I'm interested in and want to check out anyway. Also, at least with my sites, I keep track of visitors and where they came from and I expect that others do to and I don't want them to know that I didn't follow through with what I said I would do.
