There are some really good and cheap guitar tutorials in the form of books and dvds at most guitar stores ;) I tried several times but i didnt have the time and when i did my family didn't have the patience to put up with my "learning" lol There are two kinds.. acoustic, and electric. Electric is by far more expensive, and acoustic is your regular guitar. (the wooden ones) So head for Acoustic.. then you have tuners the little metal prong people use to tune their guitar so that they sound good when playing... there are electric tuners i suggest you get one of those since you are a beginner and like me you wont be able to tune using the traditional method. Then you have nylon and metal strings, nylon strings are harder to replace so start with metal ones for now. When choosing a guitar don't go for the high price ones... nor the 30 - 40 dollar set ones since those typically wont last long (mine sure didnt) i went and bought a 100 dollar guitar which was on sale at Guitar Center, with the case, tuner, picks, DVD, book .. for a total of 170 or 180... Get everything you can get your hands on on sale since you are starting by the time you get good you will have worn out what you have - sell - and buy newer better things later ;) Hope that helped!

Well, you can really learn as you have the desire for it. I learned playing guitar on my own..starting out with a acoustic guitar.Even if you cant find teachers, you can search many websites and tutorials online(youtube, etc) to learn the basics and go from there. First learn the basic chords and then you can play few songs easily in a time span of around 2 to 3 weeks depending how dedicatidly you practise and how much time you spend learning.:) hope this helps, happy learning.

I first learned the 4 basic chords of the guitar when I was 12 years old. My twin sister actually taught me since our Dad taught her first. It was quite hard in the beginning but if you practice more, you'll get used to it. After a few years of practicing, and learning from other people too, I finally got used to it and I've been composing my own songs ever since. Just always practice so that your fingers will get used to it. It's going to hurt yeah, especially if it's your first time.. but it's all worth it. Start studying by yourself, try to learn a new chord or two a day so you'll be able to learn it fast. Good luck with that!

Playing guitar is cool! But ,are you sure you can keep practise?Learning guitar is long way,,maybe you just can play simple opern even if you have practised so long time.I never have seen a girl can keep practise,it is hard for them,at the beginning your finger will feel hurt, you will good as the time pass.I think the best way of learning guitar is that finding a teacher teach you,of course, you can teach by yourself,at beginning i learned by myself,it is a hard course, fortunely,i met a teacher,he is my friend,i learn lots from him.So if you have enough pantience,i think you will play well.As the time passed, you will find you play well more and more, after you learn it for a long time, you find it is hard to you at beginning, and then you play it again,it will be very easy.

my opinion is better to stick first with acoustics for beginners. Even though it's nice to have a hard kicking song with a elec. guitar. Better forget it and practice first about simple songs. Choose a song that has a repeated chords. That would be a help. and finally. Just focus into strumming, forget the lead and placking things.

I can. I was so delighted back then when my father taught me how to play guitar. I really want to learn it. It was so fun back then especially that my father really bought me a new guitar that is only for me. Now, I left the guitar at home. And I don't have one at home.

I think it would be so cool to be able to play a guitar! My son can play one! I remember him just plucking on strings and now he can really jazz with it! I don't know if there is much difference in guitars. The real difference would be the passion you would have to learn how to play! Even with a really cheap one, the passion would pull you through to becoming an expert!

i too was looking for a guitar training center before. i would consider that my frustration. i would really love to learn how to play guitar. unfortunately, no one is patient enough to teach me. so what i did, i bought myself a guitar. download several songs with chords and chord placing itself (in the philippines it is found in songhits). and played my heart out. now i can play guitar but only the basic ones. i still need to practice but at least i have my own guitar to play with! :)
