I Expect A Call From The FBI Anytime Now...

You would not BELIEVE what I just did! Of all the stupid things in the world, I think I just did the stupidest! On Wednesday, I went to apply for my license to carry a firearm. Tonight, I wanted to look over the paperwork I received when I filled out the application, and couldn't find them, so I looked it up online in my state's Official Codes and stuff. I was reading along and saw a section that says constables can carry a firearm onto school property, to school functions, etc. I thought it was interesting, and felt a sense of relief, because of Columbine. I was in the 8th grade when that happened, and I remember going to high school the following year and our real-policeman truant officer wasn't allowed to carry his weapon because of "safety concerns" (maybe that a student would grab it out of the snapped-up case and start firing away, I don't know). At any rate, I thought it was stupid because...What if it happened to us? Who would shoot back to protect us? I did a Google search for "Columbine news stories" to try to find out the date, just to see if I was remembering correctly, and see if there was anything in any of them that said cops shouldn't carry their guns to the schools they were assigned to protect. I read a couple of the stories, but I only found out a lot of stuff about all those poor kids that I never knew back then. So I closed up the news-story tabs one by one, until I got to the page-tabs I'd been viewing before my mind wandered...and realized that I STILL HAD THE GUN LAW TAB OPEN!!! Yeah. I expect the FBI to start knocking any second now. Especially because I'm going now to look up potential firearm purchases with my husband. Dammit! Turning this into a discussion: What do you think the odds are that I really will get a call or visit from Big Brother? Stupid, I know.

I don't get it. Why would you think that? That's only surfing, it's not illegal to surf those anyhow. It's not like you were surfing and actually buying things. You're just surfing around and reading. If they get ticked by that, then surely there would be a lot of households they'd be visiting by then. Nah, you won't get arrested or get a call from doing that. They should have captured terrorists by then if they did have that type of technology going.

Yeah, I hope that you are correct. It is easy to be paranoid, though. But, you are right. They should have captured terrorists a LONG time ago if they had that kind of technology going! So, I would think and hope that you are safe!

First of all, please don't label me that way even jokingly. Second, just because I have a license doesn't mean I actually use it. And thirdly, it's the folks WITHOUT a license that you should worry about! The ones WITH them are typically law abiding citizens that merely want a legal way to protect themselves wherever they may go. Thanks, and have a great day.
