are driving us crazy and their owners dint care, every morning between 5.AM &5.AM they start barking and worse one howls constantly right near our bedroom window We have asked them nicely to please leave the dogs in the back of the garden where they sleep until around AM but we were just abused and swore at and told to go find someone who cares to tell.Eventually we reported them to the council who discovered they had 6 dogs but where we live 2 is the max you can have.Since then we have not had a minutes peace they yell abuse over the fence the kids have told my husband and myself to F*** off when we were in our garden the kids through stones onto our roof and they are making our lives miserable. She keeps yelling out that she will make our lives so bad we will have to sell our home and move.We have ignored all this thinking it would stop but months on and it is just as bad.We have never had trouble with any neighbors until now what do we do?Our other neighbors have heard the dogs and the abuse we have to put up with and are horrified.Has anyone any suggestions please. This is not in anyway exaggerated and only a fraction of what she has been doing,my husband is ready to explode and now wants to give them some of there own medicine, how i dint know i am against it but ignoring it hasn't worked

Keep reporting them, and report the abuse to the authorities. No one should have to live like that. Eventually they will realise you mean business and either stop or move.
I hope this helps. It is unfortunate you have this issue. I wish you the best.

We have been told there is nothing that can be done, She seems to have every one (officials)on her side.We have been accused of throwing rocks at her children, slashing her car tyres, throwing baited meat over the fence .We gave our cat away as she said it kept going over to her place and her daughter has allergies to cats and our cat done her business in their boat. MY cat was a house cat with a run setup outside with a door to get in and out from the house to the run I dont like the fact that cats attack our wild life. The council seen the cat run and made us remove it as we didnt have a permit for it .What a joke so we gave the cat to friend now they have a cat that lives at our place in front of our aviary thank you for your advice and help .We are just hoping she tires of it if we dont react or better still moves. We have lived here for years they have been there for less than a year

OH boy
sounds like you have a neighbour/s from hell. Can you not keep reporting thenm everytime they do something? Get police reports, council reports ANYTHING to help your case. Playing their game wont help, they will just retaliate twice as worse. You dont have to take this abuse, and you shouldnt be forced to jail yourself in your home too. OH let us know how you go... Sorry I couldnt be of more help.

Wow!! This is rediculous. How can people get away with things like this? Is there not something you can do to Stop this? Find a lawyer or something, and see what your rights and Responsibilities are. Sounds like someone higher up is afraid to confront them. I wish you the Best of luck.

We live out in the country. And one of our neighbors have dogs they are breeding that do the same thing at early hours. I have no idea what to do, as I have a similar problem. They are just self centered people. They made sure that their bedroom is on the other side of the house, so they don't get bothered. The dogs go in and out on their own. Good luck to you and me.

Oh my God, I got a shock. I cant imagine you get this type of people in a country like yours. Just why is this happening and authorities not taking measures to stop this. I thought Australia is a country with nicer people. Anyway, why dont you build a wall surrounding your property? Will it cost a lot? try that if you can it might put you at ease. Good luck.

Most of the people here are nice but there is always one person that causes trouble. The main reason the authorities don't do anything is they are reluctant to get involved in neighbour disputes. We have a 6ft high wood fence around our similar to the photo home as do all the houses here.I am just hoping she get tired of it if we keep ignoring her

How awful for you rosebug to have such awful neighbours. I thought we had the 'neighbour from hell' when we had our farm, but this does seem much worse. Unfortunately you don't have many options available other than ignoring them but also calling the police when they noise gets too bad.
Why should you move really but the other option is to stay and put up with this garbage. There comes a time when 'enough is enough' and you will reach that stage. I only hope that they keep their mouths shut when people are looking at the house.
Good luck with it all.

We have had this same problem almost everywhere we've ever lived, and we have tried everything we know to deal with it. The most effective has been calling the cops on the neighbor with the noisy dog. The cops in every town don't do this, of course, and we have used it only as a last resort.
We had a neighbor dog once who liked to come over and howl under our bedroom window at night. I was very pregnant that summer and still working full time. I needed my rest so desperately, and that crazy dog seemed determined to not let me get it. That was a miserable time.
Over the years we kind of resigned ourselves to barking dogs. We always ran a fan on high as white noise to help drown them out, and that helps.
Then we moved to our new home in August, and (knock on wood) there are no barking dogs here. Instead we have a neighbor who works on a race car and keeps revving it all night long!
Take it from me, you can improve the way things are, but you can't win at this game.

oh you poor thing....one of my neighbours dogs only barks when she out with him, he wants to play ball but she never tells him to stop, I have often wondered if dog whistles work...I can't very well scream out at him to shut-up although to be honest I have lost it a couple of times and he has shut up, I just don'y understan why she doesn't tell him....

What a horrible situation, rosebug. You said that you reported them to the council and they have 6 dogs but 2 is the max. Do they now only have 2 dogs? Is there a local ordinance where you live that specifies specific hours of "quiet time"? We have a noise ordinance where I live that specifies you can't disturb your neighbors between the hours of 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. For this reason, many people here call the police if they are disturbed during the night by neighbors' barking dogs.

yes we have the 11p.m to 7a.m here but for some reason the police are reluctant to act on it for dogs. When we first complained i think she had an idea that we would report her so she sent 4 dogs somewhere, once the council had been they brought them back.we have contacted the council again but they say they inspected the property once they only had 2 dog so have no reason to go back.Thank you for your concern and help

I feel your pain. We had a similar situation where the neighbors dog stood on the kitchen table and barked out their window all day and night. The window was directly across from our bedroom. We had asked them to please close their window or move the table away from the window but they said it didn't bother them. Finally we called the city hall every single night between 12 and 2 am and they would send over a cop who would pound on their door for at least 15 minutes before the answered. The cops started to issue tickets after the 9th or 10th time we called. The neighbors were not happy with us but luckily they were not mean likes yours are.
I would say to tape your neighbor yelling the remarks and give it to the police as evidence. Then, also ask your council to come at an unplanned time to check that they have only 2 dogs living there.
Best of luck to you!
