has the "make extra money" topic devolved into an ad section for wannabe online marketers? each day i long into mylot and the first topic i check is the "make extra money" category and i a becoming distressed at the growing number of blatant advertisements disguised as discussions don't get me wrong, i am a budding online marketer myself and one of the ways i gain from mylot is to give exposure to what i am doing but.... i do not agree with starting a thread as an ad post - i think it is misuse of what we have in mylot please share you thoughts on this we will never weed out these topics but maybe mylot will take notice and add barriers to prevent itself turning into craigslist... AND is you would like to know about what i am doing do it properly add me, check my profile or message me

I agree to a point. There are specific sections on this site, that clearly SAY "MAKE EXTRA MONEY"... you'll find it in your interest section. I do agree that people SHOULD NOT put up their links and banners and stuff on here, however, if someone wants to let someone know about a specific job lead or ways to earn some extra cash online, why not??? I didn't read anything in the rules about not being able to give your friends your private email address to contact you. But yeah, it would be bad if this site turns into craigslist lol.

We can send anything in a PM to our friends but not in the discussions. It is against the rules to place a contact address in a discussion both at the start and in the responses. MyLot dscussions get picked up by search engines and anyone could see your email address in a discussion and spam you (or worse) so this rule is for our benefit. Links may be placed in profiles. When discussing money making ventures we should do so here otherwise it is not a discussion just a promotion.

Well i also got a message frm a user to join some xyz site to earn money.. well this kind of stuff is common in public forums and other popular sites.. People get lured by the fake promises and accidently join them..

I have been away for three weeks and I am appalled at what I am seeing now. I report every violation in this section as do many others but it looks like some fellow users have left me a lot to catch up on - but I WILL report them all just as we are asked to do in the Guidelines. Maybe some users are not aware of the Guidelines or do not realise that what they are doing is a promotion and therefore a violation whether it contains ref links or not. Some are talking about their blogs and adding 'pm me' and that rules out a discussion and is considered as a self-promotion and will go too. There are going to be a lot of unhappy users once the myLot staff get back to this section but they only have themselves to blame. I want to see it full of dicussions just as many others do but at the moment it is filled almost entirely with users blatantly abusing myLot Respecting the Guidelines is what we are asked to do just the same as is reporting!
