Does Anyone else write for Neowide? No payments! Can writings be removed?

Hi, I started another discussion in relation to Neowide, the fact that they had changed the way they would be paying their writers. I had published five articles with them and I had accumulated $9. Ok, this isn't much but that's not the point. I have lost this and yet, Neowide still own the rights to my writings! Is this right! Or, is there some kind of law in relation to this? Even though our writings are published online, they are still published! I want to request that, as a result of the changes, I would like my writings removed as I have not been paid for them. At the very least, they should pay what they owe as regards the published writings and then the new rules can come into effect! What do you think about this? I have sent two emails to them mentioning that I am unhappy with their new payment rules. I have also mentioned that I would like them to stop displaying my five articles. Is there anything that can be done? It probably sounds as though I'm making a big issue about this but it really irritates me. There must be some kind of precedent out there! Anyway, I would be interested in your thoughts. Is anyone else out there angry at the way things have been handled? Andrew

I am registered with Neowide, but I haven't published anything with them yet. I prefer helium and AC for that matter. Truth be told, neowide didn't look very professional to me at first, therefore I hesitated before postin anything. People reccomended the site that is why I registered...
And now, that I see you have problems with it... Hmm, I dont think I will be posting with them anytime soon...
Though I'm sorry I can't help you with your problem...

Thanks for responding all the same. Before the new rules came into effect I thought that Neowide were pretty good I mean, they were paying anything from a dollar to a dollar fifty or two dollars, that's what was showing on one of my articles anyhow. The thing that bugs me about this is, I'm not allowed to post those writings elsewhere where things might be better! Anyway, thanks. Andrew

I am saddened to read that you haven't got payment from Neowide. I was not familiar with this website until I read your post.
It is unfortunate when we make the effort and then get burned.
It says in their TOS (terms of service) that when you write and publish to Neowide,
http://neowide.com/terms-conditions/
you are [quote] 5. By submitting your articles to neowide.com, you agree to allow us to - use your articles with full rights on any of our future projects. [quote]
Their Terms go onto say that [quote] 6. ... Neowide.com reserves the right to change the maximum amount paid per article at any time. [quote]
I'd say that's where they got ya. [quote] 10. You agree to having original and unique articles posted on our website. [quote]
Neowide goes onto say that you also agree to not publish the same article on any other website.
In my own opinion, I wouldn't of signed up to write for this web site based on those points in their terms, period.
I would be unhappy with their payment rules also.
I would of loved to have read an article or two that you have written.
If you want to make Guaranteed Residual Income off your literary efforts, writing articles based on what you know, based on professional or personal experience, don't hesitate to pm me. I have been with the same company for over two years and I make money. I get paid.
The way that Neowide has treated you is a shame. If I were you, I would simply close my account and chalk it up as experience. Or leave you account and just don't write there anymore. Maybe one day their "rules" will change again.
If you want to be treated with respect and courtesy and be rewarded fairly and residually for your efforts, writing when you want, get back to me. You will love this site!
Although, I too would be livid at the way things have been handled, when you signed up with Neowide, you agreed to their terms of service which is a legally binding contract. There is nothing that you can do about your articles there now.

Hi, thanks for your indepth reply. I am grateful for the information that you have provided. Yes, I have come to a decision, I'm no longer going to write for them. I would be interested in this other site that you are referring to though. Thanks. I will be in touch. Andrew

I am not sure what this is all about but I assume that Neowide is a company that once you sign up to and post stories or writing assignments and you post that information for them that they then legally own and assume title over anything that you submit and yes this can be done is it legal probably not... but since you are submitting your stories and ideas and what not they assume full right to your work without payment or full compensation likewise I wanted to submit an idea to Subaru for a new kind of vehicle and looked through the disclaimer they had on the website it stated the exact same thing
visit http://www.subaru.com.sg/mis/ter01.htm and scroll down where it says Unsolicited suggestions and ideas this is where they get you all wrong

Hi, thanks for your thoughts in relation to this. This is a real shame as regards Neowide! They are a nuisance but obviously they have made the decision now. I'm starting to forget about them completely. I will start writing for other companies online instead! Thanks for the link. Andrew
