What steps have you taken to recession proof your career? What do you think is the best course in order to succeed in this economic environment? I think that the best thing that you can do is to be flexible enough to do what you can. The job you want may not be viable for the economy. I'm lucky enough to have both a trade and some education to back it up.

Have you read a book called Multiple Streams of Income by Robert G. Allen? It is a book telling us to have multiple sources of incomes such as passive income, starting a business, working for others, investment etc. Even though I believe everyone including me know this, we will only practice it when we are "stung" by it. What I meant is we just have to had bad times and learn it through the hard ways. At least that is true for me. I think I fully agree on your point as no jobs is permanent nowadays. The world changed so fast; one day the gigantic company is there, the next day, you would find that the gate is locked. So it is indeed very important to adapt a flexible attitude and thought to be able to adopt ourselves to any environment, economic and job situation. Only through such practice, can we pull ourselves through the bad times.

Thank you for your comment. I agree that the world is an ever changing place and what is comfortable now is different tommorrow. It is also avery dangerous place and we have to prepare ourselves for the worse case scenario.

It's better to have a back-up plan. Working in a company is not a permanent so I think it's time to be an entreprenuer. Though it would involve a lot of risks especially in times of financial crunch, well it's worth it since you are preparing for a more stable job. A job which is not owned by other people but you are the ones managing it. Small capital can be a start as long as you know what business to create. Something that you really like coupled with a good market place. Remember, you need a back-up plan for your office career so, better plan now.

Thanks for your comments. I agree that the best plan is to work for yourself, but also I think we need to figure out a way to have several streams of income.
