Massive early voting and absentee voting could mess up exit poll numbers

It is being reported that exit polls may not be accurate this time due to the massive number of early voting and absentee voting. They would not be taken into account during the exit polls. It is forcasted at as many as 30% of all votes this time will be early votes or absentee. That is alot of votes not put into the exit polls numbers. Looks like the news stations will not be able to accurately call states before the numbers are in. Or if they do they will be taking a big gamble. What do you think?

I think it will be a long night tomorrow. They are predicting shorter lines at the polls here tomorrow because so many people took advantage of the early voting. A lot of people stood in long lines over the weekend to vote so they didn't have to miss work tomorrow to cast their votes. The figures from my state that I posted earlier were apparently calculated before the weekend.

Of course it was my state that screwed up the voting last time around and all the votes had to be recounted by hand. What a nightmare. I hope we don't have to repeat it again this year.

Unforunately I think any state that is extremely close is going to made to recount. Hpefully no states will be that close. It would be florida all over again.

I am almost crying about the idea of those poor political pundits trying their best to predict who is going to win the election with faulty poll numbers. You know they could do just like everyone else and just what for the real numbers to come in from each state like normal people do but where would the fun be in that. Exit polling is just a waist of time, just like it was in 04 when John Kerry by the numbers should have won by 58 to 42. I do wonder what the mass media corporation did before polling?

announced the states for the winner when the actual numbers were posted. The common sense thing to do you know.

They may not be accurate, but they will try to call the race. I have no doubt about that. I can agree with absentee voting, but I just really don't think that early voting is a good idea. I do understand that it cuts down on the lines, but, the people who vote early don't give the candidates all their alloted time to state their case, and sometimes those early votes are regretted. I will be waiting and watching to see what happens though.

I agree. I never had much faith in exit polls anyway but, with more states allowing early voting along with the amount of absentee votes, there really is no way to accurately predict the winner based on exit polling.
