My back really hurts me when I sit and use the computer for a long time! It started recently and I never had this problem before. Is it the way I sit or something else. Does anyone else have this problem? What do you think is the solution for me?

Hi nilugo! Yes I get that way from time to time! It does depend on the way that you are sitting and the chair that you are sitting on. It is good if you can have the proper chair to sit on. I just bought a computer chair but I haven't put it together yet. I have a chair that I think it pretty comfortable. I just put a pillow on the bottom because my butt always hurt. You have to try to sit as straight as you can and don't slouch. That is one way to keep your back from hurting too much. You have to try to sit your back as straight as possible and lean your back against the back of the chair. Try that and see if it helps. It does help me. Posture is important when sitting in the same position for long periods of time.

The same can happen to me, too. I try to have good posture. It is hard sometimes when you want to slump over because it seems like you can read the screen better even though you really can't. A pillow works wonders! :) So, yes, posture is the most important thing! :)

I have heard of people having back pains from sitting at the computer, and people say that if you spend too much time infront of the computer it can cause major pains in your neck or back,I do not think this is true, unless you spend more than twelve hours straight infront of a computer, and even then I do not think a computer could cause the pain,I think it might be the way you are sitting, especially if you are sitting with great posture which can get very uncomfortable and if I sit like that infront of the computer it makes my back hurt a little bit,but I found if I sit comfortable, like prop my feet up on a door,or on the bench beside the chair or on the ottoman that my fiance puts her feet on while using our laptop beside me,and I think if you tried something like that it might help you with your back aches and if the pain keeps up I would suggest taking a break from the computer and maybe talking to a doctor.

Hi nilugo You can use a pillow or something to support your back on the chair if you are going to use your computer for long time, maybe after working for sometime you just getup stretch a bit go around for a while and then start working again, it would be like a warm-up for your back, make sure your monitor's screen is at eye level, this is more important to avoid back or neck pains...

First you make sure that you are sitting comfortably. Another thing you use cushion whenever you are sitting in front of computer. Also you better sleep in hard flat beds. That will give you comfort to your back while you are sleeping. Hence it will reduce strains on back. Also do some exercise. I think these tips will help you to reduce back pain when you are sitting in front of computers for long time.

Constantly or long time sit before computer is very much harmful for health. It creats backpain. It also makes pressure on brain and eyes. So after working on computer for some times we should stand up and walk few minutes. It releafs our body. Before go to sleep I use to take tranquilizer pill.It reliefs my brain and I sleep soundly.Computer is our necessary .But we should be cautious about its bad effects.

I think the posture of sitting is the most crucial part. You have to sit with the correct posture, with straight back. Having a cushion at you back should help you. If still painful, seeking a doctor advise for some medicine will be very helpful too.
