singing for baby in the tummy

hi! what do you think of singing for baby in the tummy? my pregnancy has reached 19 weeks and books say that at this time, baby's ears are fully formed and functional, and therefore they could already hear what mothers say, including the people around us, especially who are close in proximity. anyway, i sometimes play music with lyrics, and i face the player while doing this. and with a lyric copy in hand, i sing with the song so that the baby will be familair with my voice and it will be easy to put him to sleep in the future when i sing for him. have you done that? this is my first baby so please share your experiences here. thanks you so much everyone! take care and God bless you! :-)

Hi... I believe talking to the baby is a helpful way to make him recognize you. I also believe that when we put on music to the stomach, the baby is able to listen. In fact when you lullaby your baby he is listening from inside, enjoying and learning to know you. I believe a baby who is nurtured with music, and talking and good sounds from outside will make him grow more healthy, have strong attitude towards life and more positive. I think this is due to the fact that the baby feels he is being loved. Love is hope, and when we have hope we will always be optimistic, calm and content.

I don't have a kid yet but I saw my sister did it when she was pregnant with her first and second child and they all grew up to be smart kids. they learned to talk early and I did not hear my nieces baby talked. The sense of hearing is the very first sense that we all develop. Psychologists say it helpd strengthen the baby's emotional intelligence. That'sa good job you're doing. You can also start reading to her stories of happiness so that your baby will grow up happy. I'm not sure if it's a myth but there's no harm done in trying. Happy conception.

Yup, I've done this too. I love singing for my little Nicholas you see. I have been reading much about this and I am just applying my readings onto myself. It's good to communicate with babies through music too. Aside from the fact that it will help them develop their vocabulary and their listening skills, it will also help them recognize your voice when they go out. Also, it's a nice bonding activity, not to mention a good practice for our voice too! Hehehe!. Have a blessed day. Keep posting!

Congratulations on your pregnancey. Singing to the unborn baby and playing music is really good to do' Talking to your baby and playing music are both ways to begin bonding with this child who will be entering your family. While classical music is great, having a variety of musical exposures will be fine. I knew a professional musician who was pregnant while recording one of her folk-rock albums. After the birth, her baby would curl up into the fetal position when her mom’s music was played. Enjoy exposing your baby to different kinds of music, as long as the volume isn’t too loud, and talk to your baby. When your baby is born, see what kind of response you get when you play familiar music. Play music because you enjoy it, not because you're trying to make your unborn baby smarter. Music can help you relax, fall asleep, or perk you up if you have the pregnancy blahs . "When a woman relaxes, that's good for the fetus and that's an indirect effect of music on the fetus,". You can put on some tunes, kick up your heels, or dance around and have fun.

Elders say that the baby really hears the people singing for her.My friend when she was pregnant always carry with her, her ipod and she place one earphone in her tummy. She wants the baby to hear nursery rhymes. I too would do that so the baby will have a nice and relaxing stay in my tummy. Its not bad to try right? ^^,

This is a very good thing, but only poitive types of lyrics should be used. This should be so because baby's subconcious mind will retain all those words throughout his/her life. This can determine baby's success or failure in life.

It is funny to see your post next to one about cars that run around with full blast thumping music! haha I can just imagine baby being born deaf if you rode in one of those!! Seriously, I think it is great to sing to baby even if you are tone deaf like my wife. It must help the bond between you both. If all they ever hear is the rumbling of your tummy then baby will come out talking elephant! haha Take care.

My OB told me to listen to classic songs to enhance the development of my baby's mind, according to her classic songs helps the baby to be more intelligent. So I listen to mozart, beethoven and bach's classic collections...

actually it is a good thing when you sing to your baby - regardless of if the baby is in or out of your tummy! this is my second child and when reading up on what you should do with your children music always comes into the picture. reading is in there too so you could always read to your baby while he/she is in your tummy too. They already know moms voice too (since they cant really go away from you during the pregnancy) so the people you want to have the most interaction with your child should be the ones talking to your tummy... it is proven through my first child that the ones that were always around talking to my tummy were the ones that my son knew who to go to later on (he is now 18 months old) your doing good with knowing to sing with your baby regardless of if he/she is in your tummy or out... keep up the good work!!

Hey girl, congrats on your pregnancy! Yeah, i've done that too. When I was pregnant, I have this ritual of playing CDs before going to sleep (classical, nursery rhymes, etc...anything soothing. Boy did i miss my rock CDs!) :D I always sing to her too. When I gave birth, I've noticed that my baby is not the fussy type. She only cries when she wants milk or if she's wet. And guess what, I can easily make her fall asleep by simply playing the same CDs... but she loves it more when I cradle her in my arms and sing to her. I remember this one time, I was rocking her to sleep with me singing Trisha Yearwoods' song with lyrics, "How do I.. get through one night without you... If i had to live without you, what kind of life would that be...?". I dunno, it's supposed to be a love song, right? but for some reason, got teary-eyed singing that song to my newborn baby. Oh no, here I go again..getting sentimental and all. :) Have a safe pregnancy, mom! You'll soon be enjoying the joys of parenthood! God bless.

First of all, CONGRATS on your pregnancy! We're also trying to have a baby, but no sign of pregnancy yet. Hope your pregnancy go smooth until labour. When it comes to singing, by all means, just sing for your baby!!! My friend told me that when she was pregnant, she used to want to listen to a specific song over and over and over again...now the kid's already 3 years old and he LOVES that song SO much that he keeps on wanting her to put the CD again and again and again!!! ;-D
