Are You Worried About Today's Election? I Am.....

There are many reasons that I am concerned and worried about the election today and its outcome. First off, we have never had such interest in a Presidential campaign. Tempers are high, and supporters are fighting madly to get their candidate elected. This really worries me because no matter who wins the election someone will cry foul! I worry that there will be trouble.
Another reason it bothers me is I am not really convinced that either of the two big ticket candidates we have are the right one. I really do not like an election where I am forced to vote for the lesser of two evils! It does not make me feel confident about the way our country will be heading. On the other hand, the third party candidates really do not have a solid chance to win the office of President - maybe senate or house, but not commander in chief - so voting third party would simply be a protest vote that would do no good. **SIGH** Maybe someday this will not be the case, but for now....
And then there is the fact that McCain is in his 70's, and lets face it the job of President of the United States is a stressful one and ages the person occupying it rapidly. So we are left with an election where the number two on the Republican ticket is of very big interest - for good reason - and that candidate has little or no experience, and many people do not believe she is ready to step up and be President should she have to. So here again is another reason for worry.
Yet another cause for alarm is the fact that there have already been threats on Obama during the primary and campaign seasons. It is a very scary thought to realize he is taking his own life in his hands by running for and possibly getting elected as our next President. If something should happen to him, it would be very similar to when JFK was shot, and it will take a very long time for our nation to recover.
Our nation is so very divided this election year, that I fear no matter which way the election goes, in the end there will be trouble.
Does this year's Presidential election worry you too?

I hope that Obama won't have the same threats and face the same destiny as JFK. JFK was another era hopefully. Although man always remain a man with all his fragility. I hope that such things wont repeat again in the history.

No I'm feeling worried at all. I'm feeling good about this election and its outcome. I think this country is in for a very exciting future and I haven't felt that way in quite a while.

It wasn't so much the outcome that I was worrying about. I agree that perhaps things will finally begin to improve. On the other hand, it is what the outcome could set off. McCain conceded very gracefully for which I am grateful, but there is still the fact that there have been threats on Obama already. This is unnerving. I hope that we don't end up with another JFK. America could not stand that, I don't think.

I also believe that it is a highly volatile situation and regardless of the outcome, there may be problems with the radicals.

It's funny, mehale. I have been worried for weeks, and all of those things have weighed into that worry - though I truly believe that the man I will be casting my vote for in a couple of hours is the right choice for this election in these times. But for today, when I expected to be chewing my fingernails, what I'm feeling instead is hope and pride - not for my candidate and not in my candidate, but in and for my country and my fellow Americans. That holds true no matter who wins and no matter who people support - I have not ever seen this much energy and engagement in our civic process, and that has literally brought me to tears several times this morning. Our country has felt so apathetic for so long - this energy is such a wonderful thing to see.

Yes, that is true. It is about time that we started to wake up and show interest in what our leaders are doing and who they are. I only hope that this energy lasts long after the election is over. If we continue to pay attention to what is going on and let our voices be heard, maybe we will finally get true change in our government that we desperately need.

I'm not worried. I hope the person I vote for wins but if he doesn't we have four years to prepare for the next election and we'll fix it hopefully. Dealing with different parties and personalities is always difficult but we always come back around and figure it out. Don't worry, this country will be fine regardless of who sits as President. We've been through bad patches before and we must consider any experience as a lesson learned.
