Do you ever just feel like...

throwing in the towel when things are bad? Life right now is difficult for most I know. Personally, I have been through some rather tough times in my life. Sure some of it was self inflicted due to poor judgment on my part. BUT have you ever gotten to a time in your life where you say, "That's it, I'm done." and just given up? I have gotten to that point before and didn't give in. Now that I am older and maybe wiser, I'm much less resilient. Once again, I've reached that time. I am hoping, just praying that today, election day, will make the difference. Have you ever felt like this? Did you stand or throw in the towel?

Oh I get to that point on a daily basis it seems. There are many difficult things in my life right now. My finances are one, but that's causing other troubles. My husband works far too many hours in order to keep us afloat, which creates troubles at home. I'm home alone all day raising our 5 children and not getting help from him because he's not home until after they're in bed. Then of course we have this house that's falling down around us but we can't afford to fix it or move out, so we're just sort of stuck. And we have the vehicles which are past inspection and also falling apart and can't afford to do anything about that. Prices are going up, but paychecks stay the same. Everyday I wonder why it has to be so unfair. But what can I do? I can't give up, it will only get worse. I can't really try any harder than I already am, so I have to just keep trudging along.

I'm just in the crappiest, most down mood ever. I can't seem to shake it. Money or the lack there of, and all the other garbage in my life that I have to deal with. Everyone's problems are mine to solve. That is everyone in my immediate family. Like I'm magical or something. This has been for over a year. What makes it so bad is that I can usually blow off any stress. I'm usually a very faithful and hopeful person.

I know how you feel. I've felt the same way for a long time, and there doesn't seem to be any light at the end of the tunnel. But I know it will get better eventually if we just hang in there.

You hang in there. Like you said it is hard on all of us right now; but we have to try to be positive. I've felt that way also. It will pass; nothing is permanent. Just keep praying.

I don't think election day will make a difference. Anything the govt does will take time to take effect and nobody is really a wizard. I've been through tough times before and am going through them now. I have felt like throwing in the towel but never have. I'm a great believer in God who I think really sees me through.

Time is what will be damaging for me. I too believe God will see me through if I do have to throw in the towel. It's the human element here.

I have definatly been there before. I have had days where I have to force myself ot get out of bed and go to work because things just seemed so bad I just wanted to give up and not care anymore. I have been through alot of hard tiems this past year and had many of those days. I usually just force myself to get up and face the day. I pray and have faith in God and that helps me alot through hard times. It's tough sometimes but just no this too will pass and better days will come!

Well, as long as you have people who love you enough to stand by you, you will not like be throwing in the towel so easily. That is, if you know how to appreciate the people around you. Sometimes we may feel it is hopeless in a situation. But looking at the people around you, you may think, hey, it is not so bad after all. There may be hope if I take an alternative route instead of doggedly trying the one I am on. Once you pass that stage, you will be glad you did not throw in the towel. To throw in the towel would mean you totally gave up on life to want to give in to the situation. I always believe, if there is a will, there will be a way. So never give up. Gripe a little here, let go of the frustration, then tackle the situation with a new perspective to see if you can go around the problem to get to where you want to go.

I can see clearly now - I can see clearly now, the rain is gone,
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It’s gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-Shiny day.
Well, if you cannot do it today, you will eventually do it some day. If it is too tough to do it conciously, try not looking at the problem for a while. The mind works in mysterious ways. While you may not be conciously looking at the problem, your sub concious is still working on it. Then one day, the solution will just hit you on the head and you will see things with a clearer perspective. There is a song that is very nice. Maybe listening to it may help elevate some of the troubles you are facing. Try looking for the song: I can see Clearly Now, the Rain is Gone by John Nash Here is the chorus: [i]I can see clearly now, the rain is gone, I can see all obstacles in my way Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind It’s gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright) Sun-Shiny day. If you throw in the towel then what? I've been to that place, but the alternative was never one I wanted to face, so I stood. I have to admit that the winds of adversity have bent me double quite a few times, but I didn't break. Sometimes material and emotional problems piled on together and the burden was so heavy it felt like i could not even breath, and the tears ran unbidden down my cheeks with no sobs because that would have taken more energy than I had left, but I'm still here, trudging on sometimes one step forward and two or three steps back. Know this. You are not alone. I don't know how spiritual you are, but there is a higher power. Trust day to day. This will pass. Life is never the same after a particularly difficult time, but the difficulty passes.

Thank you- I think that 's why I posted this. I am a faithful person. Have been through some bad stuff and made it no problem. Give God the glory and thanks for all. But sometimes some things just wear you to the thinnest you know.

Yes, I do know. It's nice to have a place where you can let your feelings out and your friends will give you a shoulder to lean on till you can catch your breath. We're with you. Hang in there.

Hey kathy!I know how you feel! I get that way alot too! I don't know what to do sometimes. I feel like I just don't know what I should do next and I want to give up but I know that I can't. But, I don't know how to make things better and I feel hopeless and I want to give up on everyone and everything. But, something keeps me from doing that. I don't know what it is, but I still keep fighting the good fight! So everytime I think that I am going to quit, I remember that I refuse to be a quiter! If I keep fighting at some point things will maybe turn around and get better!

Why throw in the towel? Just throw yourself into the ring and have a 3 minute bout and get knocked aroud a bit and punch thehell out of what ever is troublign you and you will definitely feel much better. i have never being so desperate that i woudl want to throw the towel in. I have been in tight corners, I have been in losing situations too but i was alwasy ready to fight it out. Never give in. It is not worth it. Yu will not be able to face yourself tomorrow. I can face teh world, but I can't face a defeated self.

I'm not just throwing towels but sometimes a hard thing that crashed. To think that I'm feed up is always feel. Now a days there is some thing happened to me and another judgment on my part again, and what an accusation that make my whole life get into deep sadness. I rally don't know what to think I'm in a hollow place wondering, nothing just like that. Maybe time will come every thing will be okay.

No, You stand and after you have done all you can you still STAND! There are times in life when you will feel like you do not want to go on and that it is not worth it. Just know that whatever you are going through in life you can make it. If you faint in the bad times you will not make it to the good times. Whatever you maybe going through or facing know that: This too shall pass. Know that you are more than a conqueror. Don't throw in the towel.
