David Tennant to leave

I guess some of you know this already. But he is leaving Doctor Who, he revealed it on the British National Television Awards and mentioned he isnt going to be coming back on 2010. He did mention he will be doing 4 specials in 2009, and obviously the Christmas special, and that will be it. I wonder who will be the next Doctor.
I was reading an article which was speculating who could be the next doctor. Now every doctor has been a man, but what says it cant be a woman, it did mention Billie Piper, but its just one of those speculations/things you wonder about. I dont want anyone thinking that Im am saying she is going to be, its just something I read, a bit of speculation. To Be Honest, there is something to me, whereby im thinking that Hardcore Dr Who? fans, although they like people like Billie Piper, they not being sexist, would like to keep up with Tradition and keep the doctors role as a male.
If I also read somehwere Catherine Tate is also appearing in one or two of the specials, im not to sure what is happening yet, but Ill try and keep you updated!!

For me, David ranks up there with Tom Baker and Peter Davison as my favorite Doctors. I hate that he is leaving. But yet, I do understand why. You would think, since he has always wanted to be the Doctor for most of his life, why he wouldn't stay as the character until he's totally burnt out, the show is canceled, or other such reasons - stay as long as possible.
I will miss him. I, too, wonder who the next Doctor will be. I still want the next Doctor to be from the UK and male. In all the stories, I have never heard of a Time Lord switching sexes during regenerations. Why start now?
I have never been a big fan of any of the companions of the New Who - Rose, Martha, or Donna. Don't know why. So, I definitely wouldn't want to see any of the actresses take on the role of the Doctor. I wouldn't mind if they did cameos in their Companion character though.
I guess we'll just have have some patience and wait to see who they will announce as the new Doctor, which I suspect will be after the last 2009 special (close to Christmas 2009).

I have recently seen a video of the Doctor the new one. The current one, ends up in the past, he hears someone calling the Doctor, he goes there, the woman doesnt recognise him andf then the other doctor turns up. To Be Honest I dont know whos this guy is mind. Heres the link ot the video for the first two minutes...although im not sure if ive seen him somewhere.....

From what I've read on here, there seems to be an affinity towards Rose. I personally like Donna the best of the Companions. I can't really explain why, I just do.

Personally I kinda find her patronising and a bit of a hypocrit, but she is a real good character. And Donna is a good part as the character brings some laughs and more comedy which Catherine Tate can do.

It's a pity David is going. I think he was one of the best. Maybe it was his creepy eyes that did it for me! haha
Not wishing to appear a MSP but I still think the Doctor needs to be played by a man. Then you can have a girl as a foil against/with him. I don't think it would work if the Dr. was a woman.

I was really disappointed when I read that as I think David Tennant was an excellent doctor and so cute.
I think you're right about the long time hard core fans not wanting a female doctor as I don't.
I just think it would be wrong but this world is so pc and equal opps, it probably will be 
and it'll be interesting to see how well or not it works. I think for the newbie doctor fans they'll like it but not us veterans.

Don't worry, as it is Christmas today, People in Gritain will get too see who the new Doctor will be in the Christmas Special. It is something to do witht eh Cybermen (Spoiler) and the two doctors meet. I might post one or two spoilers and if possible a link to the video, should be good.

I've obviously seen the christmas special and it doesn't have the new doctor in it, at least that's what I thought. Isn't there another series or is it just specials then the new doctor, I must go check.

The spellings are typo for a start. And I msut say that as I seen the video before the actual episode I assmued the guy would be the next doctor. But I believe the next one is to be the youngeast yet.
