Think Before Or After?

I was intreasted to know if you think that in life it is always important to Think before you act or to act on Impulse? Or do you think it depends on the situation? When I say this I mean in a varity of situations. I think sometimes your impulse may be the right thing, however sometimes you may choose to make the wrong decision.
