Example: If the whole state that you live in votes 75% rep 25% dem (people's vote's) then the senate decides who wins that state, I was told he could even vote in the 25% dem if he wanted, Is this true? If so why even Vote...

The final straw is the electoral votes. Each state has a number of electoral votes, X amount of republican and X amount of democratics. The numbers are different for each state. Which ever party wins the votes made by the people, the candidate will be awarded with the correspondent electoral votes. In order to win the candidate must have 270 electoral votes. I hope I explained this correctly, but this is the basic idea.
