I Guess There Are a Lot of Racists in Pennsylvania

Rep. John "Semper Infidelis" Murtha recently called his constituents racists. Well, who am I to complain about our nation's only EX marine's name calling when the very people he tagged as "racist" agreed with him.
Of course, not all of his constituents agreed with him... just the ones who seconded his ignorant and stupid remark by voting for the piece of trash.
They also spit in the face of every American that has ever earned the Eagle Globe and Anchor.

I just want to vomit. The state of Pennsylvania owes the rest of the country an apology. Something we will NEVER hear from Murtha.

If you do vomit, make sure Murtha is close enough to catch the facefull he deserves.

Annie, he called them racists and then defended his remarks by saying they were rednecks. I don't know how you can spin that to be anything different than what it is. The people who he insulted accepted that insult and voted him back into office.
I've commented in another thread how stupid it was for people to be voting for a convicted felon in Alaska already, but that was the topic of that thread and not this one. Nice try changing the subject though.

I live in Pennsylvania but not western Pa., in fact I've spent almost no time in that part of the state in my life and I've heard for years that it's almost like it's two different states in some ways. Murtha sure could have chosen his words better, I won't argue about that, but I'm not proud at all to say there ARE racists in Pennsylvania. That's not to say for one second that all or most people in Pa. or in Western Pa. are racists but for anyone who lives anywhere in in the state to be shocked to hear someone speak the obvious would make no sense. I THINK the area Murtha represents is a largely older, white, blue-collar population. During last night's election coverage one of the analysts circled an area on the map which included part of Western Pa. as well as part of W.V. and Ohio and said this area ws one where Obama may "have a problem".
What I'm trying to say here is I'm not giving Murtha a pass on his stupid remarks but he did apologize and he wasn't saying anything that hadn't been said before in different ways by many different people. To put it into perspective, I know for a fact there are racists in the area where I live so if someone were to say that, how could I be offended personally when I know it's true because I've heard the racist remarks straight from some of my "neighbors'" mouths? I know I'm not a racist so I have no reason to be offended, right?
The people in Murtha's district had the right to vote for him or not and apparently enough of them chose to vote for him to return him to office. I'm thinking many of them were looking at the "big picture" instead of basing their vote on one unfortunate comment, but who knows what motivates others? I'm a lot more concerned about the people of Alaska apparently being willing to reelect a convicted felon to the U.S. Senate.

Your first point is a good one, but what does this thread have to do with Alaska?
btw, he didn't say there were racists in his district, he said his district is racist.

So you don't have a problem with a sitting Senator calling his constituents racist rednecks or active duty Marines "Cold blooded killers? Interesting but not surprising coming from you annie.
I am also concerned about electing a convicted felon to the senate, even if the charges are trumped up and probably just another smear. But tell us annie how do you feel about a murderer from Massachusetts being repeatedly re elected to the Senate? Or the bribe taker from LA? Or any number of criminals in the democrat party that have been re elected but whose crimes get zero press?
