Were there times when you felt empty / spiritually dry?

I admit, I sometimes have these "attacks". Can't find a pattern, really. There are times when I don't have problems at all and yet I feel empty. I read my daily devotionals and the bible but the feeling just stays there. Sorry, I don't know if i'm making any sense here. Or if anyone could relate at all.

Yes I do! Presently I am learning about preventing this (to a large extent) and am writing a book about it.. a mystical mythic, spiritual, christian adventure.. Once it is copyrighted I will freely talk about it..

...mostly I'm learning to rest in the Lord and wait patiently upon Him and basicly ignoring my moods.. for, in the long run, what do they matter anyway.. all God's great promises are still just as true whether I am feeling joyous and full or dry and even alone (which actually is an illusion anyway). I used to suffer from deep dark depressions years ago, but learned how to change the engrained pathways in my brain and psyche, in other words, my habits of thinking.. and learned to lean more towards praise and thanksgiving.. but alas, every so often I have to relearn the lesson it seems..

Usually the times when I feel spiritually empty, it is because I have forgotten the big picture. Sometimes when we read the Bible or do devotionals it gets to be just going through the motions and doing "churchy" stuff because we feel we ought to. When I really want to get close to God, I go outside on a beautiful day and enjoy his creation or I spend time with my loved ones and thank God for putting them in my life. Or sometimes I just sit and contemplate how marvelous the overall story of God is. Try not to get caught up in the details of things you should do and just notice God in your everyday life. You will be surprised at all the evidence you can see of how awesome He is!

slash, you may be, spending too much time, or thinking too much about yourself! I have discovered, that if you help others, or even just sociaize with them, you will feel better about yourself! I have found so much satisfaction in doing good deeds for others, that it really makes me feel important, and with an optimism of life! And it also makes your life go so much better, and you will feel happier, in any endeavor that you entertain in! My whole life changed when I eventually realized this!
