Hi jesus777. I am excited for this historical day but I really do wish everyone could put the fact that he is black (actually he is really malotto) and focus on the fact that he is a man who will be a really good president.

Well I agree that this is a historic day. America does have a black president for the first time in history. However, I fail to see how this is justice in any way. Slavery was wrong, but that "crime" ended with that generation. We are not to blame for it. All the bad stuff that happened during the civil rights movement of the 60's was wrong as well. No one should be discriminated against based on the color of skin. At the same time, the color of skin should earn one no special privileges either. As with the bad stuff that happened during the slave days, we are not to blame for what our ancestors did. Obama surely doesn't seem to be oppressed in any way. It looks to me like he eats from the proverbial silver spoon. In today's world, a person can be anything they want to be, as long as they are willing to pay their dues and have a little luck. Everyone has the same opportunity for education, which is the start of all good things. We all have the same 24 hours in a day. It is how we choose to spend those 24 hours that define who we become... There are those out there with physical limitations that may not be able to do some of the things that others do, but for most able-bodied people, the only thing holding them back is THEMSELVES. If you want to change your life, the first step is often to change the people you hang around. For me, it was changing locations. I moved to a new state, and started hanging around better people. If you want out of a bad neighborhood, you have to leave at all costs. If you want to become successful, get away from the people who may be holding you back. You will never be a successful businessperson if you hang around gang-bangers. If you want to become successful, you have to make changes. If you continue to do what you have always done, you will continue to get what you have always gotten. Race, demographics, and geographic location can no longer be blamed for the way a person's life turns out. There is too much opportunity out there. You just have to be willing to go out and grab it. The trick is to find someone who has the thing you want, and learn from them...be it through reading the things they have written, hanging around them, or having them mentor you. The only person who can change your life is YOU...
