What are your children's favorite books?

My youngest son is almost 16 years old. A couple of weeks ago, we were at the bookstore together and he appeared at my elbow holding a copy of a child's picture book - Owl Babies - and begged me to buy it for him. His reason? It was his favorite book when he was little. He says he remembers me reading it to him over and over, and he wants to have the book because of the memories. It's funny - I remember reading Good Night Moon to him, and Alfie Gets in First and many others. I don't remember Owl Babies at all, but it obviously made a great impression on him. What books do/did your children love to have read to them? Do your older children still cling to the books that you read to them when they were little?

my oldest daughter is 15 and she used to love this book about a dog starting school. it was called 'dog goes to school' but i couldnt tell you who the author was, we used to read it over and over! my younger daughter used to love an old book of mine about a set of two teddies travelling to a big city for a vacation from the toy room and her other favourite was chica chica boom boom.

Those sound like very cute books. My oldest daughter loved Good Night Moon, but most of my kids remember "chapter books" the best. I always used to read a chapter from a book like The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe each night, and some of their favorite memories are of being finally old enough to read the books for themselves.

It's great that your child has varied tastes and likes to read. I don't think I've ever heard of famous five. Is it a series of books?
