Should supervisors get more pay than those they supervise?

When you look at the situation in perspective ,the persons who really do the work are the supervised workers.Supervisors merely ensure that the work is properly done and rarely get their hands dirty.Imagine a farm worker working nine to five ocking apples in the hot sun while the supervisor simply tallies his pick at the end of the day often in a cool office.
I think a more equitable system should be in place to assess and reward the work of the supervised ,even if it meaans that they will get more pay than their supervisors.

yes of course supervisor should get more because he has to do a lot of brain work. supervisor is of higher rank to worker. the job is not only to watch the work done but also to tackle the difficulties which a normal worker is not able to. i agree that worker works hard physically but he cant do the job of supervisor.
that is why we all prefer smart work then hard work.

Incredible that you think this way. I am going to think you are very young right. First of supervisors jobs consist of lots more than you can imagine. Just because you do not see it doesnt mean it isnt there. This is like saying well the owner does no work and collects the money why should he get paid?
Have you held a supervisors position in the company you are in? Perhaps you should make it a goal and then ask your question should supervisors make more money.
