I've always heard that yogurt is good for women. Why is it good? I've tried it once... years ago...it was sour I didn't like it. Do you know of any yogurt brand that is less sour? I'm just clueless here about yogurts...sorry :(

Yes i do eat yogurt when it's on special in stores. I know that yogurt contains "friendly bacteria" which boosts up the immune system and it cleans up the digestiv track. So if you eat some of those daily, you might prevent yourself colon cancer but this study still has to be proven. it also prevent yeast infections and osteoporosis. It is also observed thaht people who eat yogurt have less risk of having high blood pressure. so it would be in your advantage to have yogurt :) about the sour taste, it's because u took the nature flavour. So obviously it will taste sour. What i do with it is adding 1 or 2 spoon oh honney and u can put your fave diced fruits in it like apples, grapes, bananas, etc. It's my favourite healthy desert. i love it!! If you don't want to go through all that trouble, you can always buy yogurt which is already sweet and has fruits in it. have fun eating ygurt :P

Wow thanks for all that info. I only knew that it prevent yeast infections but I didn't know about all the other good things it does for our body. I'll try adding honey or fruits next time as i don't like those flavored ones in stores. Thanks again!

Yogurt tastes "sour" because it is acidified by starter bacteria (Lactobacillus strains), which also add to its natural flavour. You should try fruit-flavoured yogurt e.g., strawberrym, mango, apple, etc. It tastes good. But you may like to try its low-fat variants.

Hi gicolet, Yogurt... my favorite.. I have it after meals. Yogurt is extremely nutritious. It kills the bacteria in the body caused by many infections.. My little tips : Frozen your yogurt, it became a lower caloric substitute for ice cream. You can go with fruits or nuts of your choice. It is a delicious dessert... you should try...in this way, there will be no more sour taste... Happy myLotting.. CHEERS!!

One 8-ounce cup of plain low-fat yogurt provides around 400 milligrams (mg) of calcium, more than the 300 mg in an 8-ounce glass of milk. - Yogurt also has as much potassium as a banana and as much protein as an egg or ounce of meat. - The live bacteria in yogurt help in digestion and protect you against other harmful bacteria. In fact, some of yogurt's health reputation relies on presence of live bacteria. To make yogurt, warm milk is fermented or cultured with two types of bacteria -- Lactobacillus bulgaricus and Streptococcus thermophilus. Although many bacteria can make you sick, these bacteria are beneficial. They can help break down the lactose (sugar naturally occurring in milk), making yogurt more digestible than milk for people with lactose intolerance. Some yogurt makers heat the yogurt after it's cultured to increase the shelf life or reduce tartness, but kill the bacteria in the process. When shopping, look for the official National Yogurt Association's seal on the container that says "Live and Active Cultures." Another shopping tip: choose a brand that's low in calories and fat with as few additives as possible. Yogurt, in its many forms, is great for snacks, lunch boxes and on the go. Whether you take your yogurt with a spoon, a straw or squeeze it from a tube, enjoy. It's good for you.

I love yogurt and I eat as much of it as I can. I like the ones that has the fruit in it and then there is other things that you can mix in with it. Like one has oreo crumbs that you can mix in and my other especially favorite is where you can mix in dry oatmeal. I like those mostly because it makes your yogurt all crunchy and it adds a little taste to it. I have also heard that dannon and yoplait is good as well. I have never tried dannon, but I have tried yoplait and that is good.

I like to eat it. It has calcium and is low in fat. One of the especially good things about it is that it has natural good bacteria which helps the digestive system.

I initially disliked it very much because of the sourish taste. However, I started taking it again one or two years back, and found it surprisingly delicious. I'm not sure if it is because of the different flavors they come in now - I usually take the mango and blueberry flavor.

There are so many good flavors out there now, you probably tried one of the plain flavored ones when you had it in the past. Everyone else already expounded upon the health benefits, but i wanted to share my favorite way to eat yogurt. I love to get flavor like peach or strawberry bananna then sprinkle a little crunchy granola mix into it...adds some texture so you don't feel like you are eating baby food or soemthing. Definately go for some of the flavored ones by yoplait or columbo, they don't have the bitter, sour taste at all.
