Little Heroes!!

I'm telling everyone in the world that I will be forever grateful to 3 of the children that go to school with mine.
Kodi (11), Eric (9), & Jessica (9) are heroes in my eyes and when i'm doing my prayers and blessings these 3 will be forever on my list. Without them, I wouldn't have my darling daughter and even thinking that clutches my heart and tears me up.
My daughter and a couple friends were playing at the creek the day before yesterday after school (which is against school rules and my house rules!). The grass was wet and my girl slipped and fell into the creek; which due to rain is running hard and fast and deep and cold. She managed to get her backpack off but her heavy winter jacket weighed her down.
Jessica immediatly went running to the school to get help while Eric stayed at the side of the creek and encouraged Caitlyn to stay above water and get to a log on the side of the creek. Kodi was in the area and came running when he heard Caitlyn screaming for help. He got there as she got onto the log and assisted her in getting onto the shore.
The teachers got there at this point and carried my daughter back to the school and got her out of the wet stuff and wrapped in blankets while they awaited the ambulance.
My daughter had a mild case of hypothermia. It could have been so much worse. The paramedic told me that if she'd been in the cold water for even 60 seconds more, there may have not been anything they could have done :(
The school had an assembly yesterday to remind the kids why they were not allowed to the creek and the police and paramedics were there to award Kodi, Eric and Jessica certificates because they are true heroes.. without them I wouldn't have my daughter with me today.
I know they(and alot of people in my town) aren't ever going to see this but I want the world to know that these kids are heroes!

thumbs up to Eric, Jessica and Kodi
How marvelous that at such young ages, they kept their heads and did what needed to be done in order to save your daughter. thanks for this post, because we do not always hear the good news that is happening in our country, expecially news that deals with children.
I hope your daughter is doing better, and she will be sure not to go to the creek again.
God bless you all

I agree about always hearing the bad.. especially about the up and coming generation. I've been keeping my eyes on our local paper but haven't seen anything yet about what happened. If it's not in tomorrow's paper, I'm going to write to them myself.

Thanks so much for sharing this with all of us. I think that what the kids did was absolutely wonderful. It's great to know that such young children can do such big and brave things. All too often adults underestimate their children, and children in general. Maybe your story will help some people out there to truly appreciate their children.
