Yes, it is true. Enthusiastic Obama supporters celebrated the historic moment. Reponsible police reaction limited the possible outbreak of violence. Be sure to read the comments at the end of the article at this link. http://www.chicagobreakingnews.com/2008/11/some-mayhem-arrests-after-obama-rally.html I say kudos to the police for their patience. What do you say?

"saying police couldn't arrest her anymore." WTF? Just because we have a black president still means you can be arrested, no matter WHAT your skin color is for smacking a cop. I've had a juvenile backhand me once before and let's just say he wished he didn't do it by the time I took him to the juvie jail and by the time he got body cavity searched. "the police only arrested him because a black man won president." Can this get any more deep? No, you dumbshit! You got arrested for firing a weapon in city limits. Funny how people think the law doesn't apply to them because now that we have a black president, they are untouchable.

Just as 0bama refered once to his own grandmother as a 'typical white person', I think we can refer to these people as 'typical 0bama voters' and be just as fair.

There were predictions on MyLot well before the election that there would be riots whether or not Obama won. There were posts after the election that lauded the peaceful celebrations that actually occurred and said the former predictions were a bunch of fear mongering. Reading the truth about it, I say with you, kudos to the police who stepped in at the right time and diffused a potentially volatile situation in that crowd.

I believe it would have. Obama had stoked the fires of racism throughout his campaign and I think it would have exploded into widespread violence if McCain had won.

What I saw and reported was not a prediction of riots but a reporting of the fact that police were geared up for it. This was true. Many departements across the country did prepare for riots. It was only the responsible thing to do and may have played a key role in preventing them. The police deserve a lot of credit.

Well, glad no harm came to you. Until 0bama supporters come to realize 0bama does not have any more power than any other President before him, these things are going to happen.

I think the police were very patient. I have to wonder what these people were thinking... especially that one who reached in and slapped the police officer in his own patrol car.... assaulting an officer is never a good idea, and can been hazardous to your health... if not fatal. I remember several years ago when one of the Gabor sisters... I'm not sure which one... smacked that cop during a traffic stop. Even her wealth and fame did not prevent her from paying for her actions, so what made this female think that just because 0bama won meant that she didn't have to follow the law? I think the responses were well written, and showed a responsible attitude... which is what I would expect from anyone.

Apparently, police have had a lot more training since 1968 in how to diffuse potentially violent situations.
