kind of like an animal/pet version of mayoclinic.com or something? i cant figure out if my cat is sick or just being weird.. he lost a lot of weight but his weight does go up and down some.. but he seems like he is sick but i cant tell if he is just being lazy.. ugh!! i dont want a sick pet to go unnoticed but i have taken my pets to the vet several times when there wasnt anything wrong with them and i dont have the money for to be wrong right now..

Honestly, I haven't seen one of other than to just research his symptoms. Can you call your vet? I know ours is really good about that. You call say XYZ is wrong and they give you a few things to try before bringing any animal in.

That sucks. The vet tech where we take our cats are fairly helpful. If they don't know, they ask the Dr and will call back. What is wrong with him?

a couple of months ago he was throwing up and it turned up he had worms.. i have no idea how since my other pets dont and he is an indoor cat but i treated them all and sterilized EVERYTHING!! then he started throwing up again but it would last a day or two then stop for awhile and my cats have a tendency to eat too quick so i thought maybe he was being a pig and not taking the time to eat slow enough to digest.. he was a fat cat and now he just dropped a lot of weight.. but he used to be skinny before he got fat so i dont know if maybe the worms made him fat and now he doesnt have them and went back to being skinny but he just doesnt seem right but he isnt a friendly cat.. never hangs around me or anyone so honestly i cant say for sure he is even acting weird since i dont have much to compare it to.. i cant tell if he is lazy or not feeling good.. he got really skinny but hasnt lost anymore weight since the huge loss and his throwing up stopped but then every once in awhile he will again.. im getting really worried but like i said i cant tell for sure anything.. all i know that i can prove is the weight loss and he pukes every once in awhile.. ugh

Just like WebMD is an unreliable source of information for humans, pet md sites aren't going to be much help either. Part of the problem is that symptoms are not limited to one problem. For example, a headache could be anything from a hangover, to stress to a brain tumor. And a lot of people make the mistake of using online medical websites to diagnose themselves or others, and invariably think they're dying from some Malaysian fever disease or something ridiculous. We are not medical professionals, and frankly, there's a reason medical professionals have to go through so much schooling. It's so they can determine what's actually a problem and have the knowledge base to back it up. It sucks that taking a pet to the vet is so expensive, but really, it's the only way to figure out what the actual problem is. Weight loss could indicate anything from a serious disease or it could be just that your cat hates the food you're giving him and won't eat it. Maybe his teeth hurt and he can't chew it. Maybe he's got worms. Who knows? But you can't reliably diagnose anything without seeking the help of someone who knows.

i think he has worms because he had it a few months ago and maybe he got them again.. i was trying to find something that would say more symptoms of worms but i dont know what kind so ugh not much help.. im gonna save up my money and try to take him asap.. i know its not his food and he is 3 so it shouldnt be his teeth.. yeah medical sites can do more harm than good some times but im a medical junky when it comes to learning things and since i thought maybe i would be able to get more insight on what could be going on i figured anything could help.. thank god im past the days when i would look up something online or in a book and think i was automatically had it lol

hi, Aww, I hope everything is okay with your cat. I think you should trust your instinct if you notice anything else unusual. Try this site out and check the symptoms. http://www.petmd.com/ It could be nothing at all or something simple having to do with his food/diet/digestion maybe. Hope that site helps.:-)
