Wow! It's christmas! I can smell it in the Novemner air. Hehehehehe. I remember when i was a kid that at this time i'd be watching lots of cartoons with christmas themes. Hehehehe. A whole lot of different cartoons, from mickey mouse and friends, Winnie the Pooh from the Hundred Acre Woods, Donald Duck and his nephews, Chip n' Dale, Casper, and many more all showing the spirit of christmas. And not just that! By November, our house would be filled with christmas decors! And we'd be quite busy buying gifts and preparing food for the christmas parties and the exchanging of gifts. And that's the season when our family and friends would get together and enjoy each other's company. Makes a kid's christmas very enjoyable. Heheheheh. Those were the good ol' times. So, How'd you spend the holliday season when you were a kid?

Christmas is going to be very different for us this year. My mother had lived with my 8 year old daughter and myself for the past 7 years. She went into a nursing home this year because she was just too sick for me to take care of any longer. She chose to be near my brother who lives 1000 miles away. This will be the first Christmas that both of us will spend without my mother. Going to see her is just not an option for us right now. On the plus side we just moved into the cutest little house and my daughter is so happy to have a yard to decorate this year. My daughter's other grandmother, who is my mother's best friend, will be with us as usual, so we will still have a nice holiday. We will put up our tree after Thanksgiving, decorate the house, sing carols, go to Silver Spring to see the lights and the boat parade, watch all the Christmas shows and movies and do all the things we usually do. But we will still miss Grandma so it just won't be the same. You forgot to mention some of the Christmas movie classics, Super_jj. "A Christmas Story", "It's a Wonderful Life", which makes me cry every year, "A Christmas Carol" and "The Grinch" are a few that come to mind. My favorite cartoon would have to be "How The Grinch Stole Christmas" based on the Seuss book. I always felt so sorry for the Grinch's little dog who had to wear those silly antlers! Happy Holidays everyone!!

This is a very good discussion and I always love thinking about Christmas and when I was a kid because it always brings back a lot of memories,I know what you mean it is already November and Christmas is only a month away and you can already smell it in the air,and I remember when I was a kid I would also watch all sorts of cartoons that had the Christmas Spirit, which I always loved to watch, and I still watch some of them even though I am an adult, and the weekend after Thanksgiving we would always get the decorations out,and put the Christmas tree up,and my mom would do Christmas shopping in November and last minute shopping a week or so before Christmas, and on Christmas Eve we would get together with my moms side of the family and my dads which would mean going to my grandparents house on my moms side on Christmas Eve,and now we either do it at my parents house or my uncles house because my grandmother stopped doing it at her house, and we would go to my grandparents on my dads sides house for Christmas Eve,but since they have passed, and one of my aunts on my dads side has passed, and that just leaves my other aunt,we usually do Christmas Eve at my parents house, and we would go to my other set of grandparents on my moms side on Christmas Day but since we no longer talk to my moms dad,we do not go see them anymore for Christmas or at anytime, and that is fine by me,and I can not wait for Christmas because everyone is always in a good mood, and there is always Christmas music on the radio.

Christmas was the most awaiting time of the year when I was a kid. Of course! I'd be getting my wallet full of crispy bills handed to me by my grandmother and my uncles and aunties and my grandparents. I'd be getting lots of gifts and toys. Ha!ha!ha! I also looked forward the bountiful meal that would always be on the table for the Noche Buena. I loved the Christmas carols that I happily sing with. There was really a song of gladness in the air. My sister and I would decorate the Christmas Tree and we would look forward to receiving gifts and toys from our parents and family friends. Christmas for me then means lots of money, lots of gifts, lots of food, lots of material things! Now that I have grown mature enough, I am happy I find the real reason why there is Christmas. My every Christmas has become even more meaningful! More than all the gifts, the foods, the bonuses and the fun, I have much more important thing to celebrate and be joyful about. I now know that Jesus is the reason for the season. That on that blessed night, Jesus my Lord and my Savior was born!

It's far too soon for Christmas! We've still got Halloween candy! Still... my favorite Christmas television show was one that you didn't mention at all - A Charlie Brown Christmas. I always loved that sad little Christmas tree and Linus' music.

We usually have a big family reunion every Christmas eve, and even have a simple raffle with little prices. It will be a challenge this year (for me and my husband) to budget our time during the holiday because it's our first Christmas as a married couple
