Today my son and I went to Walmart so that he could pick out a new winter coat. As I currently do not have a car, we had to take the city bus to and from the store. I needed to pick up a few other things while we were there, so I grabbed what I needed and then we headed to the boy's department where my son picked out the coat that he wanted.
As luck would have it, we finished our shopping just in time to miss the next bus back. The bus only goes to the particular location that we were at once an hour, so we had some time to kill while waiting for the next bus to go home. We decided to browse at the Christmas displays, mainly because that is what was set up at the end of the store where the bus stopped.
So we were looking at the artificial Christmas tree displays. They had the classic green trees and the white trees of course. They also had a red tree, a blue tree, a pink tree and a purple tree! LOL! But the oddest thing of all, they had a black Christmas tree!
Would anyone like to have a black Christmas tree?

A black tree with all red ornaments and ribbons would be so cool looking. I like the idea of it.

Hi sweetpeasmom,
Yes, I agree that it would look cool decorated in red. I personally would not want it because it would not be realistic looking, but that is my personal choice only and I can see how it might look nice.

We were in WalMart today and saw that black tree. My husband nearly flipped. What is the point of a black Christmas tree? I could handle the pink or purple but black? I suppose if I had a room where the colors were primarily black and white maybe a black tree would work in an "stylistis" kind of way. Or maybe the colored ornaments would show up better, but I don't think I would buy one.

I don't see myself ever buying one either. I wouldn't buy a pink, red, blue or purple one either, though I can imagine that some people might. I think it's possible that any of them could look pretty if decorated right, but I don't think they could look realistic. I like my Christmas tree to look realistic as I am picky like that
. The green ones can look realistic because real pine trees are green. The white ones can kind of look realistic because you can think of them as pine tree covered in snow, but those other colors....that's another story, lol.

Lol thats not jolly whatsoever. I was actually recently looking at artificial trees and couldn't believe how much they were. They were between 300 and 500 dollars!

300 and 500 dollars?!?!?!!!!??!....Where have you been looking at trees at? Most places I go they start at $10 and go up to $200. The ones for $200 are like seven foot tall and well made so that they look practically real though. However, the majority of them are anywhere from $10 to $40 at the places where I shop.

Although, it sounds a bit gothic, a black Christmas tree could be quite striking with the proper ornaments. For example, if you had all crystal ornaments, with the darker background they probably would stand out more and could be really pretty. I don't think I'll test the theory, but its all in one's taste. Personally, I still like the old fashioned green tree with its heavenly smell. You can't replace that.

I'm sure it could look pretty with the right decorations, but I wouldn't want it, lol. I wouldn't really want a blue, red, purple or pink tree either, though the black one is what I found most odd, lol. I'm just picky, I like the tree to look somewhat realistic. I like the green ones because they are the most realistic, since real pine trees are green. I also like the white ones because even though real pine trees are not white, you can use your imagination and think of them as a tree covered in snow or something like that. But those other colors, though they might look nice if decorated right, I can't see them as looking realistic by any stretch of the imagination, lol.

I've had a white tree before. I decorated it with blue lights and it looked really pretty.
Spikes and pitchforks, lol, to funny.
