Hello all I a little bit angry today with my puppy. That puppy already bite my 3 sandals, I don't remember how many shoes and sandals are broken because of him. I already slap him with that sandals, but he always do that again. And today, he get in to my bedroom and eat my lovely sandals. What should I do to stop it? Thank you *pa_lom4

well just close the door of your room. If that still doesnt work just put your sandals somewhere wher he/she cant reach it

That's what pups do. It's a natural behaviour to a dog and it's up to you to train him not to do it. You should actually slap yourself for not putting things out of his reach, physical punishment will only make a dog scared of you and he'll have no idea of what you mean. Besides a dog has a memory of about three seconds. After that it's too late to correct a dog as he won't have a clue why. If you catch him in the act, you can interrupt with a sharp verbal command and immediately offer something else for him to do. Basically you have to keep everything you don't want him to chew on out of his reach and buy him some good chew toys/bones. Let him have one or two at a time, then exchange them occasionally to keep his interest up. Start teaching him the 'trade' command. Basically you trade him for a higher value item. Start with allowing him a low value item and trade with something slightly better. When he's doing those willingly you can gradually work up in difficulty.

I think he is very fond of your sandals. I suggest you keep it inside your drawers so that he would not be able to get a reach for your sandals. I also thinks he wants to play with you and want you to play with him. Besides that, did he do anything else. I don't think he does because he is just a little puppy who is learning his way and learning how to live. Just like I said, keep your sandals in your drawers. And if he still can open it, put a padlock into it so that it would be permanently kept safely.

You should never slap him for doing something that is natural, he is a puppy and he is teething, buy him some chewy toys and make your house puppy proof by removing things that me might chew on...

Hello pa_lom4, It is natural for some puppy to bite on things, specially sandals. It is better to keep your sandals un-reachable to your puppy until it pass this stage of it's life. You can buy it some rubber bones on which he can chew on so that it won't chew on your sandals or other stuff in the house. Regards.

Hello robert My puppy is picky, he really like my room's sandals. Maybe because the sandal is fury and so pink. I should follow your advice to buy a rubber bones. Thank you
