Do you think it can effectively reach the masses and bring about the desired result? What are the places where we can hold these plays to bring about the maximum desired result? villages ?? Have you been a part of it? Do you think it can be an effective medium in our country? What are the topics which need to be covered? Do you have an idea how to make it a success?

Hello,Daffodil! It is an effective way to create awareness among the people particularly in the rural areas through street shows.Majority of our people have no reach to news paper or TV sets for some reason or other. So they can't get the message of the government and as such the purpose of the government is defeated. So government decided to authorize some of the NGOs to propagate through street shows. They engage some professional artists to organize shows to create awareness pertaining to literacy,soio-economic matters, health and sanitation etc. and actually it has great response.thanx.

That's it bbsr. Mother (working for under-privileged children) and her friend ( who has been working in a NGO since past two decades)are involved in welfare activities and organize it for the less educated and under-privileged and that's how initially I came to know about its importance. I was wondering if it could be effective in urban areas. A few section of the society living in cities do need to be told. Thanks for the nice response.

Dear friend, I am sure street plays can create awareness. Moreover if the streetplay is much of comedy while teaching or making awareness I hope it would give much impact on the audience as most of the audience like to laugh. Learn while one enjoy or laugh. Another main aspect the language and the majority of people's age present as audience. Moreover it would also better if the current matter are incorporated. The location too matters were the audience could watch it without much difficulty.

Current matter, though commonly known now,is what we are doing too. But too much of comedy too can prove it otherwise. Thanks for your good suggestion SHAMRACK.

yes, i think they can, provided they are performed in a professional way and the message is conveyed in an appealing way that attracts the audience, and especially has to be done in a local language in a country like india for example. i gotto watch a kamal hassan movie called 'anbae sivam'. its an amazing movie and has a street play in it. that's how a street play has to be.

Yes, if its done on streets and small towns then local language is the most effective one. Professional handling and message appeal is what we are striving to get to.
