Does Anyone Know of any Adopt a Family For Christmas Programs?

I have a friend that has been through alot this past year and can't afford Christmas for her kids. I can't afford to help her as I have 7 kids to buy for this year and she refuses to ask for help. There was a couple of years ago a site, Haunted House of Freebies, that devoted one of their forum to Adopt a Family for Christmas, where the ones that needed help could post their story and what they needed help with and other families in the forum could read these posts and adopt the family of their choice. I was going to do a post for her to see if I could get her some help but that site has either been deleted or moved and renamed. So does anyone know of any other sites like this I could get her posted on?

Check with your local social service(welfare) office. A lot of them have special programs like that, I've heard of some that have their own Christmas store. People donate items, and they can go through and pick out several gifts for their families.

Thanks for your suggestion. I actually had them on my list of people to call, because I donate all of my kids old toys they don't play with anymore to them. Every year right before Christmas we go through all the toys and decide what to give to another child that can't have a Christmas this year and what to keep. It is a really good activity for the kids. Thanks again for the response!

Check with your local Social Services Dept. you can also check with your local churches. My family a few years back were living in a homeless shelter and I ran in to my childhood best friend and I had told her my situation and where we were staying and she told her father who's church had not adopted a "Christmas Family" yet and they adopted mine. They had a few families that were up for consideration but when they heard I was bestfriends with the daughter of one of there members they felt they had to repay honor that. We had a blast. They held a Christmas Dinner in our honor and let the kids each open 1 present. It was great. I hope this helps.

Check with Salvation Army. Here in California they always have an Angel tree, so perhaps they can help! Good luck.

Freecycle - Freecycle
You know what...check out this site...http://www.freecycle.org/ It is a site when you can connect with people in your community and trade or request stuff free or for a nominal fee. No cost to join. Might be something to look into.

Try Dress a live angel. That is what we have out here, and they get businesses and stuff to participate in it. Do you really live in west Tx? If so, neat, I do too.
