Yeah, that's gross! I always shake my mustard, and I *still* get that gross watery liquid!

I found that if I use mustard from a jar, verses a sqeeze bottle, I don't have any problems with the water issue. I guess the air in the plastic bottle makes the condensation rise to the top!

You know? I haven't seen mustard in a jar in a long time! I just realized that I've only seen it in the squeeze containers. Hmmmm, I wonder what happened to them?

They still have them. I get mine either from HEB or Kroger. If you can't find one, take the squeeze bottle cap off and get the mustard out that way. That's what I do.

I love mustard in deviled eggs and on hamburgers and hot dogs. but I'm with you about the liquid that comes out first. it is just water but I still don't want it on my burgers or hot dogs. What I do to keep it from coming out is to store my mustaerd and catsup upside down then the liquid is at the bottom of the bottle or jar.

I'm glad you're enjoying this discussion! I started it because I'd just shaken and sqeezed out some mustard to eat on a veggie corndog, and that stuff just really grossed me out!

I know that is there and I don't like mustard much, but my lttle 2,1/2 year old grand daughter loves it and will eat anything as long as she can dip it in mustard and/or ketchup - so I use it often now, and just remember to shake it first. That oil is part of the ingredients that just settled to the top (while everything else settled to the bottom) So ...just shake it!
