i recommend you to upload your files to internet, i use www.4shared.com this is a great page where it let´s you have 5Gb of information, music, and other things, in your 4shared page. i can see that you want to save excel, word,... files so 4shared will be fine for you, and other thing you can do is put your documents in an USB memory. And other thing, if you have two or more partitions of your hard drive (C drive, D drive,...) that you have to do is move your files into a folder different of C drive, so will have only to format your C drive. And, why do you want to format your drive? do you have any viruses, your computer is solw, put more information if you want help man! i hope i help you, bye"!

First of all you wont be able to format C: within windows.. you need to boot into other OS or a temporary bootable device to do that.. for instance you can use a bootable floppy, or cd of your OS.. boot frm it by selecting first boot devie to cd/dvd drive.. then after getin into setup you can format c: but a word of caition.. your windows will be rendered useless after formating c:

Formatting a drive will definitely erase all the files in it. What you need to do before you format your drive is to backup all the data that you have in there. Data means all your personal files such as Word documents, Excel sheets, Powerpoint slides and other relevant data that you want to keep. You can leave all the programs to be formatted along with the drive since programs are better installed fresh after the drive has been completely formatted. As for the backup, you can backup to your other drives such as D or E, if you have any and space is available on those drive. If not try to move the files into an external storage such as an external harddisk, pen drive with huge storage capacity or DVDs. That is assuming that data can still be retrieved from the drive to be formatted. Once done, you can now format your drive without having to worry about your data. However, make sure that you scan your data files before restoring them to the formatted drive to ensure that those data are virus free. If not there is no point in formatting the drive in the first place. Hope that helps. Cheers!
